I picked up a gallon of white and (another) gallon of red. Is the transport yellow the cub cadet color? It looked similar, but I'm a little colorblind and if it doesn't say "cub cadet yellow," i dont get it.

The 'Cub Cadet Yellow' is for the newer cyclops and 2000 series tractors, and is not correct for the older tractors; it is rather orange.

So the transport yellow is a good color for older cubs?

I used TSC Majic rattle can cub paint for my 124 last year. It did OK, but I think it needed more hardener in it. Some cans (I bought about 8 or 9 cans for my 124) were very "watery," had way too much thinner. Some did fine. I am rejuvenating my 100 this year, and I will use more TSC rattle cans. After it cures for a few weeks or months it does fine.

Cub Cadet White
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1973 LoBoy 154. I found that a very good match for the original white paint can be found at Ace Hardware. It's in rattle cans and is "Ace Premium Enamel" high gloss and the color is "IVORY". I got it for $3.99 / 12 oz can. Cheap enough????
I also painted the Yellow components with Krylon Industrial Enamel, color is almost a perfect match. Krylon's color is "Federal Yellow" and I bought this paint from MSC Industrial Supply (on-line):beerchug:. I also clear coated everything with 4 coarts of CLEAR. All rattle cans.. It's one "pretty tractor" now. |
