Is that a MTD 990 in your avitar?
|
It was the grey switch under the seat. Pto switch now works as it should. Did it the proper way and replaced the seat switch. And yes Oak that is a 74 MTD 990, my personal winter project, a free be.

Just an update on this 1862. Should have bought it myself. Not sure what happened to it but,. Now before I put in the new M-18, I changed all the gaskets and seals, and the motor did not smoke at all. Just got a call from Dave, motor locked up and no oil. He said he's been checking the oil every time before using it, except today. Has not had to add any oil to it. The same thing happened to the other M18. I think he's ticked someone off and they're paying him back by draining the oil.

Sorry to hear that.

I know it would put too much in the tractor but I know a guy in Smyrna TN that has a couple of Kohler 18 hps. One is a Magnum and the other a Command. I believe he gets $425 exchange. I bought a JD frame off him last month and he seemed like a straight shooter. If you need the number I can look it up or he posts every week on the Nashville C-List

Hello ya'll. Been awhile. Well Dave has finally decided what he's going to do with the tractor. Was going to scrap it, but I offered him 200 now it's mine. I picked up a 91 1641 with a 42" deck today for 300. So I figure for 500 I'm on to something. Will the 16 hp Briggs handle the 54" deck off the 1862. The only difference between the two is the 1862 has power steering. The 1641 is in much better condition so I don't think swapping the Briggs into the 1862 is worth the wiring change. What do ya'll think. I have dealt with Russell a number of times. He's who I got the CH18 from.

Glad you're getting the cub!

OK did some search in and see the 54" deck not an option for the 1641. May look for a 46". Mowed with it yesterday evening and the 42" did a pretty good job.:biggrin2:. Not much will get done on for a couple of weeks, as we are closing on our first home on Thursday.:beer2: All my toys will get a new home as well. Will be going from a 10x20 shed to a 30x30 insulated garage:beerchug:. I'll tell ya workin on the 1862 in the shed was tight quarters. The 1641 will get a fuel system clean out as the grommet around the fuel indicator sending unit is shot so there is a lot of trash in the tank. So not sure what I'll do with the 1862, but will be awhile for I get to it. Going to be a busy couple of weeks.

Some sad news on a side note, last year we had a wind storm come up that took out a 30-40' tree, that in turn took out my carport, that took out most everything under carport including the MTD 990 that's in my avatar. So Oak that was one project that never got finished.
