Unfortunately,
Topics like this always stray south and end up getting political. I've seen it happen on other forums.
That is what will happen to this topic.

Speaking from being a past moderator.......It only takes one event-person to light the fuse.

If the mods want to save themselves a bunch of aggervation they will not allow the topic become part of this site.

Shotgun Wedding, I've got a Winchester model 70 Ranger in 270 I use for deer. Never had one run more than 10 feet. I would not have thought it would kill a moose though. I know its a very effective round for long distance.

Regular 270 may be a pretty hard shot, could be done but placement would be super critical. Mine is 270 WSM, so it's a short magnum ( necked down magnum cartridge) with magnum-like powder charge.

I use a WinchesterSupreme CT 140gr which is a Nosler with polymer tip. Pricey up here at $56 a Box of 20 but they smoke anything CP3. Moose is an easy kill but shot placement is still critical. I practice a lot!!!!

Dusted off my Dillon Square deal and loaded about 1000 rounds of 9mm over the past couple of evenings. "About" 1000 because I didn't count all the primers I spilled on the shop floor in the process...tiny little buggers.

Having a hard time finding powder in the local shops, though, but primers and bullets and brass readily available.

Got a pile of .223 brass ready for the Rock Chucker.

Anybody else reload?

Oh, I had to clean Cub parts off the bench to set up the presses. (cub cadet content just in case).

I use a dillon # 550b progressive. A REAL SWEET machine. Takes some time to get used to it. So easy to make a mistake. But once set up its a accurate loader, + or - 1 grain of powder. One just has to do his part.
Next weekend I gotta clear off my bench & load some 38's, 45's. & 223.
once set up I can & do load 500/600 loads an hour. :beerchug:

Nik,

I see nothing wrong in starting a post about shooting, guns, just keep it under the hunting/fishing thread & leave it be. Why have all this nay-sayers rattling of the sabres? If political than shut the post down. Keep politics out of it, thats simple. If your against guns or hunting "DONT LOOK."

I'm not much of a gun nut but I do appreciate the engineering that goes into them. So as long as no one is shooting cubs I'm happy :biggrin2:

Shotgun Wedding, ok I see. I'm using 130gr Winchester supreme ballistic silvertip ammo. Still expensive but not that expensive...

This thread is a topic just to see if it is allowed and there is already politics being pulled into it. I don't have anything against guns or gun ownership, but this is a cub cadet forum. Any reason to pull guns onto this type of forum? Aren't there forums out there discussing guns? I don't know so that's why I'm asking. We'll see what the mods decide. I don't care either way and they would be the ones watching those threads. :TwoCents:

I agree 100 percent. Its a garden tractor site last time I checked. Sure, other topics are discussed...but I highly doubt that they would cause that much political uproar or upset members.

heres a pic of my ruger charger, alot of people dont even know these exist because only about 44,000 of them were made. its a 10/22 built on a pistol stock and it is registered as a pistol. the stock and bi pod are factory but the barrel is a 8" hi desert dog bull barrel, i stripped the black finish from the receiver and polished it to match the barrel.

Guys see post #2. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. If you have a question about if something is OK your welcome to PM me. Play nice and we will all enjoy. Yes I have fire arms and I'm a life long NRA member. That's as far as we will go politically.
