Well last night I had to clean hy-tran off of the floor and tractor because my 682 I just got has already broke the roll pin and the cast iron part that goes on the input of the tranny and....... ripped a hole in the oil filter. :bash2:

Man, I haven't even had 30 minutes of play time on it yet.

Man I keep hearing about this, I wonder if guys are replacing these with the wrong pins?

Part of the problem is that cast coupler is pretty soft, gets worn, and starts wobbling on the shaft, which destroys the spirol pins even faster. Time for a new coupler, rag joints, and spherical ball bushing...

diesel_nut 04-17-2009 11:17 PM

Pulled a few bushes out with it. Got tension on the bush(stubs) and hacked the roots with a wood splitting maul. When they got loose enough I yanked them out with the mighty Cub! Then hauled the extra dirt(after planting some azeleas) to a drain line in my yard where grass is having trouble growing. Love this tractor!

My rag joints look brand new, I am assuming there was a problem there already and probably patched it up enough to sell it.

Where is the spherical ball bushing?

Thanks,Randy

It's inside the input shaft coupler on the transmission; the driveshaft pilots in it. It'll be obvious if you take the driveshaft apart to replace the coupler. They wear out and fall apart, and then the driveshaft wobbles and helps further wear the rear coupler.

Randy Littrell 04-18-2009 01:08 PM

Thanks Matt.

I pulled off the snow blade (which now somehow has a bent frame, though not bad), changed the engine oil and air filter, and drained the hydro. Time for new Hytran!

While I have the back cover off, I am painting it and drilling a 3/4 inch hole in the hitch plate.

Next, I am going to bring in the mower deck and sand down the rust under the cover. Then a bit of primer and paint, and reassembly on the tractor.

It's getting close to mowing time!!

jfinney 04-18-2009 05:22 PM

I just got in from spending a few hours plowing at the Riverside Plow Day!!! My first real experience plowing, and boy was it fun! I was pretty impressed by the 73...not as big, powerful, and glamorous as most of the tractors there, but it got the job done well. Hope you all had as much fun as I did! Jason

ACecil 04-18-2009 06:50 PM

I also got some seat time in today. My wife trimmed the hedges, and I hauled the clippings.

Try Wally's tractor hats, I have bought several and think his quality is great.

My brother took his 1650 and tiller out to our nephews house today and tilled his garden for him. I went along to get some pictures, but i ended up running it a couple of swipes. That was my first time running a tractor mounted tiller.. It really does a nice job.
Heres a couple of my brother running it.

I moved my boat around the yard. Used to have to do this by hand until I finished building the carry all with the integral tow hitch. Much easier on the back now! Also helps to move my logsplitter to.

young enthusiest 04-20-2009 01:47 PM

is zat an MSD ignition sticker on the hood? I'm gonna take a guess at that cubs number. I tis a 1x 8/9 series. it has manual lift, so it is a 129 or below. it is a hydro, so it could be a 129, or a 109. my guess is the 129 with a 38 inch deck. Nice trailer and boat!

ACecil 04-20-2009 01:48 PM

Great pic drivadesl! Thanks for sharing.

drivadesl 04-20-2009 09:21 PM

Hey Y.E. great job on figuring the model #, its a 109. My son was impressed by your deductive reasoning. And thanks for the compliments on the boat, I love to take my kids out fishing for crappies, and bass at the local lakes. They love it as much as I do. Hey, maybe we should start a boat thread! Take it easy.

Diz Jr. 04-20-2009 10:20 PM

67 hydro,

That was the second garden he has done since he got it.

driveadesl,

Great picture.

I put some new and "loaded" tires on the back of My Toy today. Here's the link to the company. http://www.overstockwheels.com/23x105012.html
They are 4 ply Japanese made tires. At $32.85 each, I couldn't pass them up...and they also sent a set of tubes with them, which I will use in another set of tires that I have!
My total with shipping cost was $82 and some change.

Awesome tires CBH! You got a great deal on them.

Scotty 04-24-2009 02:58 PM

Well it didn't happen "today" but this is the first opportunity I have had to post up the pics. We had a beautiful last Saturday so I transplanted 100 trees around the property and I set my kids off to watering all of them. They were hauling buckets and milk jugs full of water out to the newly planted trees for most of the afternoon. While they were finishing up the watering, I broke ground on this years' garden with the walk-behind tiller. I REALLY need to get a tiller for the tractor! I will post pics of the garden in the Garden's thread.

Today I received and installed a spring assist on "My Toy"....my 128.
A big THANK YOU goes to Rich Patton of Patton Acres for outstanding customer service!! :Bowdown2:

lonnyb 05-05-2009 07:33 PM

Well today, I used my 3235 to till the small garden and used the 100 to plant 12 rows of sweet-corn 40 foot long.
Sorry no photos taken as I was home alone today.

klejeune 05-07-2009 05:48 PM

I finally got to mow again last night with the 1450. It's been so wet here. Beautiful today so at lunch I got to drive around the yard a little on the 124 I picked up a couple of months back. I've been working off and on trying to get parts and stuff to see if it would run. I thought I had everything set up right, but still couldn't get any fire. I had fuel, spark at the points and spark at the plug held to the block. I even tried a different coil... but not mounted down. I was going to try a coil off of my 100 that I know will spark, but thought before I go diving over the hood in the back of the shed I'd try the other coil again, but bolt it down this time. 1/2 crank and it was running!

I had to pick up a throttle cable last night and got that on at lunch. I still need a choke cable, reset the points and tune the carb in a little more. I also need to pull the engine shrouds off and clean out the fins and change the oil.

Now for the kicker. It won't go into 2nd and 3rd so I'll have to pull the shifter off and see what's up with that. But I at least got to drive around... slowly in 1st and reverse. The clutch is a little iffy but works for now.

Oh, I also put in a steering column from a 1650. It's a little longer so that was nice. Steers much better too.

I think I'll see how it handles Jerry B's Brinly box blade tonight.

I used my 1882 with FEL to level a dirt mound that the contractor said would settle. That was a year ago! I got fed up and finally bought myself a real garden tractor this past Tuesday and that pile was gone in an hour. Man I love that Cub!

diesel_nut 05-07-2009 11:30 PM

Moved firewood(was 85 here today!!) so I could plant some blueberry bushes. Yummy breakfasts in my future!!

squatch 05-11-2009 12:23 AM

Unfortunatly I got caught up in the job and forgot to take pics.
My wife has a '68 Camaro convertible that we had stored temp at her brothers house down the street. We needed the room for a project and he has a pole barn. The wiring harness is out of it at the moment so it isn't running. My son and I took the 1872 down and pulled it out of the garage and up the street and pulled it into our garage without breaking a sweat. Both drives are gravel and we never spun a tire. The Super moved it as well or better than the green CUT 4x4 that we pulled it over to his house with. The super is a lot more manuverable as well.
Here is an old pic of the car before we took it down to her brothers house.

This is one fun tractor. It seams to run better the more i run it.

Today I had my son help me move a small wood pile with the 109. I bought the machine last year and tried to teach him to drive it. He just wasn't comfortable for some reason, now a year later he's taken right to it. Anyway, I'm loving the carry all I built for it, very handy implement. I just leave it right on the machine so its ready when needed. And the 109 has been a great machine, I love it.
