Home maid belly blade
Since my 100 has no deck but has the deck hanger , I used that for the lift system . A lil welden and this is what I came up with . It will swivel right and left and will go stright .

Now that looks nice Denny! I have been debating on a grader blade also.. I have one on my White Motor Corp GT1000 that I am thinking of converting to fit the 682..
Got any "action" pics yet? :biggrin2.gif: |
Nice cub grader!!!

Jay you need a FEL not a shovel!
Great pics everyone! |
I like your grader blade, camarokid! It looks awesome. :beerchug:

Got a little more done on my hydraulic setup. The relief in the pump is adjusted down to about 700 PSI.
Found a couple cylinders. The one for the lift is off a MF combine and I think it's 1.12" or 1.25" bore by 5" stroke. The one for my blade angle is a 1.50" bore by 7" stroke tie rod style cylinder. In order to make the lift cylinder fit I'm going to have to mount it on the left side of the dash tower. I could have mounted it on the right side but it would have had to have been facing back towards the seat since my pump mount interferes with it facing towards the front like the original NF hydraulic lift. With the cylinder turned around backwards I would not have as much lifting force since a cylinder has less force on the return stroke due to the rod taking away surface area on the piston. Since I'm mounting the cylinder on the left side I had to cut a 3/8" wide x 6" long slot in the tunnel and part of the frame in order for a bracket to connect the cylinder to the rock shaft. I'm making a new rock shaft and it will be a larger diameter in the center to eliminate twist due to the cylinder and 3 point lift bar being about 8" apart on the shaft. |
Thanks for the update, Adam. Looking forward to the finished product.

I picked up a 2 spool valve today. It has spring return on 1 spool and spring return with a float position on the other. Came off of a JD 317:RollEyes2:. Got it for $50. I think I'm gonna mount it under the seat next to the fender so it's out of the way. There's not many options on a NF Cub. I'll make the levers come out just above the fender so they'll be easy to reach from the seat. I don't know which side yet. It'll probably be the left side so I can run the lines between the frame and transaxle. The 3 point lift bar is in the way on the right side. I got a couple pieces made for the new rock shaft and cylinder mount too.

Got the 100 out, and rode around. It needed some run time, plus I needed some seat time! :beerchug:

Pulled a fence out with the 129 today, it never even grunted hard. I don't know how I lived for 50 years without a Cub.

I finished rebuilding both gearboxes on my 450 blower and got it reassembled and mounted on the 1862. (There's got to be an easy way to get this thing on!:bash2:) Lifts great and is almost silent when I engage the PTO. I won't say I can't wait for winter, cause I can, but I will look forward to blowing some snow with power steering and hydraulic lift when the time comes. Decided against an entire refurb right now. I wanted to make sure everything was working right. It's pretty simple to tear down and in decent shape. I don't know if Matt G's position of "they're only original once" is rubbing off on me, but I kind of like the look of the "good, used condition".:bigthink: I should have some pics up, if the wind and rain stops today.

Looking forward to your pics, toyman! :beerchug:

Rebuilt the trunnion on the 149 today. One thing to remember is when dealing with spring, DON'T LET GO!!! It's hard to find them in the grass.
Also installed the used Relief Valves I bought a while back. Old ones were stuck. |
Nice job, Pat! I bet the 149 is working great now. :beerchug:

Got some more work done on my hydraulic setup. Go here for pics.http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showt...1704#post31704

Well I started working on the 14 hp motor tonight I got the set screws out of the PTO without a whole lot of problem. I noticed that it has 2 friction dics, and 2 of the flat springs on it.
|
Besides priming stuff for my 1872, I discovered that the 46" deck on my 782D does not have bagger blades on it...so I'm surprised that bagger worked at all. Now I need to put the bagger blades on it and try it again...I should be able to go more than 1 ft/second without it plugging now:biggrin2.gif:

Got some steering parts in for the super. Also got ahold of a nice IH center cap for it like the IH 982's had instead of the plain black one that was on this one.

Got the PTO off the 149 tonight.

MH, I'm working on it... Need to get some more grass in for a good set of poser shots :biggrin2.gif:

I decided to start working on the 70. I dug out all the pieces, pressure washed and degreased. Since this one is pretty much in original condition, except for the engine, I decided that I want it to look aged. I'm cleaning it all up, treating any rust, and getting it back in good working order. I got the front axle off and disassembled. It's almost ready to get greased and reinstalled. Got the repaired shifter back together and installed in the rearend along with the rear cover off the 982, so it's ready to be filled. Once I get the front axle back together I'll install it and the rear end and have a roller. I need to do some repairs on a front wheel and also get new bearings. I also need 4 new tires. I got a set of narrow rears and am going to put a set of 6-12 ags along with narrow ribs up front. I had to get the 1862 and 982 out of the shop to get to the 70, so I set them up for a pic as well.

Broke down 3 times today!!!!!
First I was mowing and the left hand spindle came apart, the hollow bolt in the spindle shaft backed out and the blade fell off. Got that fixed. Second I was mowing and noticed that it had quit charging, I shut it off the check things, and the Brand New S/G I bought had quit charging. I changed it out with a used one I had. Thank goodness for having an extra tractor. Last I went back to mowing and it just up and died and threw fire out of the muffler. Refused to start back up. I check a few things and then touched the coil, I almost burned the hide off my fingers. So I walked 6 blocks back to the house took the coil off the 149 and drove the truck down to the Cub, fixed it and got it home. Now I have to walk back down to get the truck. I think I need a Tall Cold Pepsi after all of that. |
I'll say, and we Okies had a hot one today Pat.
Nothing like an antique tractor to keep your wrenching skills honed. :beerchug: |
Amigatec , I had the same kind of day . Mower belt broke fixed that with a used one , front tire went flat put differnt one on then i ran out of gas with 10 feet to go . What a day !

Great pics, toyman! You have some very nice cubs.

Last night I got my hydraulics fired up on the 100 and bled the air out of the lines. Put on the rear blade and it lifts it easily. The real test will be when I put on the carry-all and start adding weight to see how much it'll lift. My goal is at least 200 lbs. After that the front end gets too light.

Everything OK here...

Sorry to hear about all the bad luck today...mine was yesterday..messed with the 782..it was running rich, so I pulled out an old manual, adjusted the carb, and messed it all up..would run at idle and die at midrange..fiddled a while longer, but still the same..said, screw it.....OK, check my computer files...different adjustment there!!..make a copy...get a fresh start today..check plugs..gap in wrong..re-adjust carb..fires right up..power thru the complete range..let it warm up..re-adjust the carb..change the oil..scrounge thru the shed and find enough to get a mule drive and deck on it..change out the tires..and there it is...lookin' ugly, but runnin' great and mowing the lawn!!!!!

I guess you couldn't make up your mind if you wanted a Red Tractor or a Yellow one. :)
