Just pushed cubby out of the way.......thats about all.

Been way to busy to post or even scan the forums lately. A couple weeks ago I pulled out the 127 and tilled an area for my neighbor, then put the blade on it to scrape it down. Worked really well, like a mini dozer, I need to get some Ag tires someday.

squrl78 08-10-2010 06:53 AM

Well after I got home from work this morning, I put the blades back on the deck that I got sharpened last week when I ordered parts. I also hooked up the battery charger just to make sure I don’t have anymore problems when I go to start it. And this afternoon when I get up I’ll head over and get my carb parts, put them on, put the deck on, and take this baby for a spin. I hope all goes well. This would be the first time it has worked properly since I got about a month ago.

squrl78 08-11-2010 02:26 AM

She is a go. I finally got everything going and it runs and cuts great. Now all I need to find is a reasonably priced snow thrower for her and it’s complete.

ACecil 08-11-2010 11:53 AM

Glad you got your cub straightened out, squrl78.

IHinIN 08-12-2010 05:18 AM

Last night I tore apart my 42" cast iron deck to fix some holes in the sheet metal. I noticed that the deck has a bow to it and needs to be straightened. The baffles are gone too so I'm going to make new ones. All of the bearings look good but I did have to make a new spindle and another one has the keyway worn a little. The subframe needs some work too.

ACecil 08-12-2010 02:31 PM

Nice 105, mrcubcadet. :beerchug:

I got the 100 out to haul some boxes. No pics this time. It was great, getting some much needed seat time!

I took the mower deck off of my new (to me) 123 and attached the #1 tiller. Did some tilling in the garden. I was going down one of the hilled rows, high-centered and got stuck. It was too dark to shovel my way out, so I'll get to do that in the morning. (Tiller worked great, though! Operator troubles will be overcome, eventually..... LOL)

lonnyb 08-13-2010 12:33 AM

Seeing how it no longer wants to start I drug the old thing out back and painted a nice big bull's eye on it, should make for an intresting target for this falls site in before hunting season.

I rebuilt my first carb tonight. Thanks a lot to MattG for the instructions he posted. Went smooth, and it fired right up when reinstalled! I'll do the fine tuning tomorrow, but it sounded pretty smooth.

ACecil 08-13-2010 11:39 PM

That's awesome, Eric! Thanks for the update. :beerchug:

Duel Wheels!

Well today was good. I got my 2" spacer rings from jeffscub at Only Cub Cadets.net. . I couldent wait to paint them first and wanted to see if they were gonna work. And they do! They are made very well and the 2" seems good in space. Going to paint them Federal Yellow since I have some left over paint. Also down 1 10" 1/2" carrage bolt. I'am running duel 23-8 x12"s I think. Also put on the 16 x 6.50-8 new off the 72 up front, since they are wider than the 71's originals. Spacer rings Made in Alabama, U.S.A .

aagitch 08-14-2010 07:30 PM

George sounds like your seat safety switch might be bad.

ACecil 08-14-2010 11:28 PM

Here a few more picts. Today I'am gonna break down the duels so I can get the tractor back in the cubby shop and then start painting my rings! It will be more eazier for me to run this outfit when my garden is ready to go under.

I love the picture from the front. It looks really cool :beerchug:

ACecil 08-15-2010 03:16 PM

Great pics again, John! I have a request. Please get a good pic of the rear with the whole tractor and disk. :biggrin2.gif:

squatch 08-15-2010 08:38 PM

That's one sweet looking little tractor. Looks to be a hard working machine. It never ceases to amaze me what the smaller early cubs can accomplish. I love the duals and you did a real clean job with the lights front and rear.

Thanks! I think I'am just gonna lerk here for a while. I want to get a few things done: 1 is to make a z bend in the throttel cable to re-set the gov. 2. Figure out why 1 out of 3 lights work. 3. I would like to toutch up some paint chips and rust spots. 4. Was wondering if there is a Cub Cadet paint number for the silver grill in the 71. Here is a picture because we like to see pictures of the cubs. No tank pict. . Just reminded me of the cub cadet logo....with the green corn where the tank would be.

Matt G. 08-15-2010 10:18 PM

Is that thing original paint? If so, I'd leave it be...it's only original once.

johncub7172 08-16-2010 12:23 PM

Matt- For the most part. Original wheels fo a 72, and motor. I like these bigger tires. The hood and stuff are orig. paint; faded out a lighter yellow for sure. Like Y.Sam, I have all the orig. parts for.... when I convert back to 38" mower. Shined 'er up today!:beerchug:

ACecil 08-16-2010 12:26 PM

71 looks great, John.

TheSaturnV 08-18-2010 02:35 AM

Really agree with Matt. Leave it as-is. It's rare when tractors age as gently as that, and to cover over the original paint would be a detractor, IMO.

cubcadet109 08-18-2010 06:18 PM

yesterday and today

Yesteday I fabricated a narrow frame front blade to fit my 109 that I just got for free a week or two ago. Then I took it out behind the barn and leveled some dirt. Today I started leveling dirt and noticed a small hydro leak, just a drip here and there. I took the fenders off, and the tires and cleaned the hydro to find the leak. It turns out it is coming from around the trunion shaft. Is that a hard seel to replace? It looks like I could just take of the snap ring, and then take the old one out with a screw driver and then shove the new one on. Is that possible?

Matt G. 08-18-2010 07:29 PM

If it's the right side, then you can. If it's the left, you have to disassemble the hydro unit.

cubcadet109 08-18-2010 08:17 PM

LEft faceing the front or the back? Why can you only do the right side? Thanks

Matt G. 08-18-2010 10:11 PM

Left side of the tractor, as in the left side while you're sitting on it. The left side seal is under the trunion bracket that's welded to the shaft. The right side is just a stub shaft. Look a little closer at it and you'll see what I mean.
