I'm watching this closely as I've got a 1000 to work on later this winter. Looks like you are making great progress! It's great when you can involve the kids, too.

Thanks guys, im doing stuff here and there on it. its still pretty rough but it is finally starting and driving. The spring assist makes a big difference by just the feel, wish I had it on a couple Of my other ones. I bought an IH cub muffler and received it yesterday, not sure what series it's off of but looks like it might be a quiet line, its big! It fits horizontally up front right behind the grill screen so I am going to fab up some mounts and put it in there, its going to make it very quiet I'm sure. Anyone know if this is a quiet line muffler? Again i know its not and 800 muffler but scarce isnt even close to describing them. Here is the link

That's a QL muffler. I wish I saw it before the auction ended. I need 2.

It's been a while since I posted on the 800 but I made some progress on the rear fenders. They were rotted in a few areas and the battery tray was very roached. I filled some areas with weld that would take it and today I cut out some bad areas, made some patches and welded in. Also cut out battery tray, made a new one and welded it in. Got a bunch of grinding to do and more filler. Going to take Dougs advice and use the type of primer he recommended. It's coming along, quite a few hours in this one but I'm wanting to do it slowly.
