Congrats on the tiller, I love mine. I used Primeline 00 grease in mine, 0 is specified in my tiller manual but could not find it. Primeline number is 706612, available at NAPA. I cut a new cork gasket for mine, it leaked, so I then used black silicone, it worked well.

If these are what you are asking about, they are 5/16" X 18 tpi.

Yup, that's them. I'm gunna weld some up. If something comes up, I'll give you a holler for some of them. Did you make them yourself? They look good. What size hole did you drill in the plate? Just for glits and shiggles, what would shipping for 2 be to 22736?

What size are the pulleys on the mule drive? I'm trying to get them before I get home today. The mule drive is sitting at the post office now :)

Does my mule drive have to look identical to the picture in the manual? It looks quite a bit different then the one I have. I know you have to remove the extension spring, but it looks like the bracket on the right needs to be turned around, and the one of the left doesn't even look close to what the bracket looks like I'm I the manual.

I got the mule drive, disassembled it, straightened the pulley brackets, replaced the pulleys and put the mule drive back together. The belt that came with the tiller is too long. I'd say it's about a foot long. I used a rope to measure the correct length needed. I figured since the 2 mule drives in my last post are so different, i will just leave the tensioner alone on mine and just replace the tensioner bolt on the one side. I'm sure everyone enjoys reading my posts.. Lets see if I can get some good informative replies from somebody.

I used a 44a mule drive as it was what was on hand. Straightened the arms, used a couple new pulleys. I ended up ditching the spring, welding both pulley brackets/tubes into one assembly after figgering out how I wanted them to line up. This allowed use of one adjustment bolt. Seems like I turned one around, then I drilled a new cotter pin hole to keep it located side to side on the shaft. I used a Gates AX144 belt.

Good info on your mule drive setup. Did your belt tighten up any if at all WITH the spring setup? The belt that came with the tiller is about a foot too long. Went looking around at some stores today, but all the people with the good stuff are closed on Sunday's. I believe a 144" belt will work on my rig.

Belt didn't get tight enough with the spring, that's when I ditched it and welded both sides to tighten as one unit. Didn't have time to buy or make another adjuster, had to till!

I hear Ya, would you mind posting a pic of your mule drive? Ran around to a bunch of places today for a belt. No luck. I'm sure i will find one tomorrow, more places to choose from on a Monday.

I called a local outdoor power shop, the are pretty familiar with the older tractors. I told her I needed a 1/2" belt x 144". They told me to give them the tractor model # and what it's going on. I told them a cub cadet 1450 and a model #2 tiller gearbox. They said it takes a 7/16" belt x 145". Does this sound like it will work? 1/2" = 8/16. What do yall think?
