I started a part time lawn care service in and around Bethalto, IL. I hope this baby can make me some money on the side.

Put a set of Tri-Ribs on the 169 this evening.

Tri ribs are lookin' great on your 169. My uncle has my grandfathers 169, wish I could talk him into letting me buy it. I've tried many time with no avail. Sure do like yours. Someday I'll find one.

squatch 08-26-2010 10:20 PM

Now your lookin' right. AG rears and rib fronts. That's the way a 2wd tractor should look. We don't need no stinkin' turfs! Sweet Cub you got there. Great hat also.

Diz Jr. 08-26-2010 10:27 PM

:Thanks: Guys :beerchug:

TEET 08-26-2010 10:37 PM

I got time to get some seat time today and what a better way to get out and enjoy a great day then hooking up the caboose up to the 122 and taking the wife and kids out for a ride.

The caboose is 5 ft long by 3 ft wide and 6 ft tall. It's James red and Percy Green (Thomas and Friends). We'll finish painting it this weekend. My son has already informed me that we need a passenger car for little sister so the fun begins again!

ACecil 08-27-2010 10:36 PM

Great pics, Duke! The caboose is very neat!

Methos 08-28-2010 12:07 AM

Thanks Allen! I still need to put seats in it but it's close to being done. All the kids around the love it when I bring it out of the garage. I took it to my son's 4th birthday party at the day care and all 18 kids piled into the caboose like sardines! Here's a pic!

raboley 08-28-2010 09:06 AM

Love the caboose and my boys did too! If I had the room, we'd definitely have one...or two...or three....

And the Danco's sweet too

Thanks! The caboose is a great ice breaker. Old or young they all want a ride! More seat time for me! I gotta catch up to Allen! hehe

1872 with rear forks (carry all)

Finally got my combined A-frame/hitch/weight bracket/forks for my 1872. Still need to find a short top link, so I made a temporary one so I could play. Took some scrap wood and also made a little platform. What am I going to use it for? I really have no idea, but it was a lot of fun just moving stuff around!

Methos 08-28-2010 09:02 PM

Sweet looking 1872! Love the forks! That's one clean looking cub! Have you checked Tractor Supply for the top link? They should have it there or any other simular store.

ACecil 08-28-2010 09:28 PM

Great pics of your 1872, raboley! Thanks for sharing. :beerchug:

ACecil 08-28-2010 09:39 PM

Got some more seat time in today. Had some lawn sweeping to do.

Friday, I built an engine stand that bolts to my work bench and rotates to make working on my engines much easier. It bolts to the engine using the 2 holes where the starter/ generator mounts. I'll try to get some pics of it Monday.

Today, I removed what was left of the vinyl and foam from my 126's seat and sandblasted the pan. It's cracked around the bolt holes so I've got to fix that. My friend's dad does car interiors so I'm going to see what he'd charge to recover it.

Then, I pulled the head and oil pan off of the K301 from the 126 to check it out. The head gasket was not leaking and the cylinder walls look good. There was a little bit of carbon on the head and block so I cleaned that up. The rod is tight with no play in it but the balance gears were getting a little loose so I removed them before they decide to remove themselves through the side of the block. I've heard of guys busting the top balance gear to get it out but thought it seemed a little sketchy till I tried it. I put a punch on the gear where the material is thinnest and didn't have to hit it hard at all and the gear busted into 6 pieces. It's no wonder they come apart and ventilate a block if they're that weak. Busting the gear is much quicker and easier than removing the crank to get it out.

I pulled off the PTO clutch to replace it. It looks like someone tried to remove it with a hammer without taking out the set screws first. I've got another clutch with a rebuild kit to go back on.

I don't have pics yet, but i bought a Snapper brand rear cat 0 pto driven tiller for my 982. Price was too cheap to turn down. I just haven't decided on what I want to do with it. Not sure if I want to keep it or sell/trade it. I don't do a garden, so I really don't need it.

AJ

Diz Jr. 08-29-2010 09:37 PM

ajgross
Maybe you should start a garden.. you know just to keep the tiller limbered up :biggrin2.gif:

ACecil 08-29-2010 11:07 PM

To go here here

I promised my wife once I got my 122 running I would clean the garage so we could start parking the van back in the garage. Well 122 is running just fine so I had to bite the bullet and clean the garage. :bash: Not only was I able to park the van in the garage again it gave me a chance to find most of my tools I'd lost in the move but provided me with more room to work on my cub.

I guess this plow day thing is a "good" thing after all.

ACecil 08-31-2010 12:27 PM

Plow Day is worth it, Duke!

Today I worked on the dash tower on my 126. Someone had welded a new mount on for the clutch release arm and the way it was mounted the arm was too far forward at the top. I need to come up with a better way to mount it. Here's the bracket I cut off that was welded to the dash tower.

http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...det/clutch.jpg

Here's the dash tower. The battery box had been cut off and tack welded back on. I grabbed hold of it and it came right off.

http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...adet/dash2.jpg

Here's a few before and after pics of the frame repair. Someone started to put a 14 Hp in it and the next guy "tried" to fix it but failed miserably.

Another pic of my engine stand. I can pull out a pin and rotate the engine 360* and lock it every 90*.

http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...nginestand.jpg

Does anyone know what the 1/4" wide slots are for in the dash and tunnel? I assume they are used on the hydro tractors.

Those slotted holes are for the fan guard and hydro lever shaft.
