I got to get the 682 dirty today..I took her back home to get my shooting lanes cleaned up for this coming deer season. It was rainy (as the pics show)and kind of swampier than normal. I think tomorrow I will be pulling the front wheels to make sure there is no excessive water trapped and get some new grease packed. I also rolled to 600 on the hour meter too, well 1200 I would guess :biggrin2.gif:

picked up a plow and put it on getting ready for winter.
I have less than 300 in my free 782d including mower deck, plow, and filters/fluids. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5561241_n.jpg |
Looking good hondo
If we get as much snow as we did last year, you are going to have a good time with the new front blade  |
Like your 782D and blade, hondo! :beerchug:
|
Now that I got everything mechanically running great I have to turn to find the cosmetic things.
I can't find the 4411 headlights that have slip on terminals. All I find are the ring type terminals :censored: Tail lights were cracked so trying to find replacements for those too. |
Thats a sweet 300$ unit hondo. I d love to get ahold of a red cub.
|
Cut my grass for the last time.
Did'nt need any cutting she says. Well if anything I get to mulch up the leaves for the last time. So she points up in the tree. What about those? I'll wait.:ExtremeFunny: Nik, |
My quest for weights for my # 109 & # 122,
The first pair cost me $ 107.00 with shipping for my # 109.
Got this pair for $ 86.01 with shipping for the # 122, heck of a deal I say. :IH Trusted Hand: My wifey keeps shaking her head. But stopped calling me a sick puppy. Nik http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...b26weights.jpg |
Nice weights nikster :beerchug:
|
Awesome deal on those nice IH wheel weights, Nik! :beerchug:

Well I was finally able to get out and do some storm clean up.. I had to use the CCO today because the 682 will not start after washing her!:bash2:
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/101_0726.jpg Flaming stacks are COOL! I had to take this while running the fuel out, it's a bit blurry but hey, it was LOUD! :biggrin2.gif: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...n/101_0728.jpg |
JayBrd
Great picture of the O and the sweeper  |
Well the cold weather is here and I figured this would be a good winter project. So I started pulling apart my 128. The engine is a little tired and uses oil. The clutch is quite worn and hard to use. I know it would be a great opportunity to completely paint it and all that, but it is all original and in great shape, so I think for now I just want to make it mechanically as new as I can. Plan on a rebuild of the engine. Yes I am going to have a shop check the block and am almost certain it will have to be bored. Going with all new parts inside. Plan to upgrade with a new wiring harness, ignition switch, etc., etc.
I know it looks like I was kind of slow, but as I removed bolts I would chase the threads, write down the bolt sizes, location, and so forth so I could replace with new when I am ready to put it back together. The frame and transmission will be cleaned and de-greased and everything lubed replaced as needed. Just a few pictures of today's progress. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image001.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image000.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image005.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image002.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image003.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image006.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image007.jpg The PTO works good but several of the fiber teeth are gone, so I will rebuild it. This is a .30 caliber bore brush. I cleaned out the PTO set screw holes with it then filled the top hole with PB blaster. Will do each hole a few times. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image009.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...n/Image008.jpg |
Hey Jaybrd,
Yes! A truely nice Original!!!!! |
Mizar N68X, thanks, the first few minutes is always a bit of a shocker when I reach for the hydro lever that is not there...lol
DX3, looking good, my days are drawing to a close for that kind of work soon with the cold weather here too. Seems someone spend the heater funds on cub parts again this year..sure like to know who he is :bigthink: |
Thanks for the great pics of the Original and lawn sweeper, Jay! Hope you enjoy using yours, as much as I do mine. :beerchug:
Great job, _DX3_! Please keep us updated on your progress! |

Got the 782 ready to pick up some branches and sticks. Just waiting for my professional stick picker upper to get off the bus. I've got new front shoes for it that I put on yesterday. I love these v61's.
|
Finished building a coulter disc for my plow. The one on the plow when I bought it was not mine. The disc is an old seed opener disc off of my dad's Tye no-till drill. I made the rest.

Nice job, Adam- it looks great
|
Adam that looks really good.
|
A bit of paint and it will just like NEW!!!!
Nice job very professional looking!!! |
Finally got the fender pan off of the 128. Had to cut the 8 floor board bolts off with cut-off wheel. 37 years worth of dirt and grease. Broke out the de-greaser and soap and hose and got the frame and transmission looking much better. I need to find someone that can re-surface my clutch plates. This was about all I got done today.
Will try to clean up the fender pan tomorrow. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image008-1.jpg Ready for cleaning: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image003-1.jpg Grease: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image002-1.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image001-1.jpg A lot of grease :biggrin2.gif: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image000-1.jpg There is a transmission under there: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image004-1.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image005-1.jpg Ready for a fresh engine, one day: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image007-1.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image006-1.jpg Oh, yes, I had to have my favorite website up and going while I worked :beerchug: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image009-1.jpg |
Great job and pics, guys!

Mowed the grass with the 149 today. Then changed the engine oil in it and the 169
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...0-23-10064.jpg |
Looks good Diz..
I did a oil / filter change along with plugs this morning also. Afterwards I used the sweeper a bit more. |
sniffs :( I want a 149 and 169 so bad... one of these days :biggrin2.gif:
That one looks good Diz |
insulted mine
I insulted my cub 126 by parking a JD manufactured Scotts 1642 near it's shed. I'm hoping the new battery I installed in the 126 yesterday will make up for the infraction.:NailBite:
|
The guy that gave me the 782d called me to help him toss some stuff into a large dumpster as he's moving and clearing house.
I found the original bill of sale for the tractor and deck and the full complete factory manual with supplemental instructions from Cub Cadet for the tractor and deck in a nice 3 ring binder. The tractor and deck cost around 4500 new back in the day. :biggrin2.gif: |
Sharp looking 169, Diz!
|
:Thanks: Guys
hondo Thats cool that you found the original paper work for your 782D |
built a rear blade for the 169 cub.. threw it together in about a hr ill have pics up soon when i figure out how to get them from my cell lol.. got some things to fine tune to get it to work right
|
Looking forward to the pics of your blade! :beerchug:

here are some pictures of the rear blade i made the chain is just in place of the upper link so i could move it
|
anything you see that i could improve on please let me know because this is the first cat 0 3pt iv had.. i built the hitch and plow with out any plans
|
That's not a Cat-0 3-point...all you did was add two arms to the lower bracket of the IH 3-point. The Cat-0 (and Cat-1,2,3) hitches have two lower arms that go up and down, and the 3rd (upper) link just floats and is in no way connected to the two lower arms.
You need anti-sway chains between the lower arms, or when you use the blade angled or hit a rock or turn, it'll swing to the side and hit the rear tire. Also, it looks like you have a lot of slop in the ends of the arms, which may cause problems. The biggest problem I see is the angle of the blade itself. It will be angled the wrong direction so it won't cut into the ground; instead it'll just ride along on top. |
You've been busy, Bill! :beerchug:
Nice rear blade, 48Farmall. Got some seat time in today. Hauled my wife's Halloween decorations to her shed. Then hooked up my plow, and moved it to my shed. http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._1112Small.jpg http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r..._1118Small.jpg |
