I finally got the deck welded up and adjusted and cut grass for the first time with my $200 682 CCC. Not a bad cutting machine. Steers easier than my JD with power steering. Engine runs flawlessly; could not be happier.

Good looking 682 weaverama :beerchug:

Great looking 682 weaverama.. Nothing beats the 2 turn steering! Get a "suicide knob" on it and you will truely like it..

Thanks Diz!

Cool looking 682, weaverama! :beerchug:

I spent a good part of the weekend sanding and priming all the pieces for the snow cab for my 1872. It was pretty rusty in places. One more weekend of decent temps ( above 60) and I'll have it painted cub yellow to match the rat rod paint job on my tractor. Sorry but no pics yet.

Diz Jr. 11-01-2010 06:46 AM

If we have a winter like we did last year, you are going to get some use out of that snow cab :beerchug:

squatch 11-01-2010 07:58 AM

I'm sure hoping we don't but I intend to be ready just in case.

ajgross 11-01-2010 12:33 PM

I went and visited a friend yesterday and came home with a QA42A thrower and a 42" push blade that were setup for 82 series tractors. looks like the 982 can sit in the warm basement this year qwhen we get a bunch of snow.

Had the "O" out today to clean up the leaves one last time before the white stuff. Plus I couldn't wait to use the cart. Figured while I had it out I would get a couple more pictures before I put it away. Man I love the looks of that cart.

cubcadet109 11-01-2010 06:34 PM

Thats cart looks great! I worked on my brakes today so I can stop with the 4x8 trailer on, and then of course drove around to test them!:Cub6:

ACecil 11-01-2010 10:38 PM

Awesome pics of your Original and #1 cart, Junior! :beerchug:

Ya, that cart really sits nicely with the O':beerchug:. I got around to installing the plow that came with my 1st O' on my 2nd O'. You can see (in next to last pic) how the plow was setup when I got it. It had a cable to connect the lame liftrod to the plow and it was all loose where it was attached to tractor. I had to fabricate some brackets for the plow main pivot and I needed a lift rod so I made one out of a chute control rod for a cw36 blower. I had to bend and cut the end off, then drill a hole for the cotter pin, came out nice and works great:biggrin2.gif: Can's wait to use it now! Been snowing off and on the last 3 days here. No accumulation down here in the valley but over a foot at 2,000' and above. Almost all my cc36 blower parts are sprayed, just need to order a few new parts and will be back together in a couple weeks. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow:beer2:

Diz Jr. 11-02-2010 06:39 AM

Nice work Sminkey
Sounds like you will be ready for the snow :beerchug:

You'll be having fun, in the now this Winter, Jude! :beerchug:

JayBrd 11-02-2010 06:07 PM

Great work Sminkey!! :beerchug:

I got time to move the rear gauge wheel brackets on my 44C deck so I can run the 26x12x12's with it. I angled the left side and moved the right side out about 1/2". I'm going to wait to make the new rear hangers until spring. Need to get the blower out and give it a going over this weekend..

Garden Clean-up

Today I used the 149 and trailer to haul the rest of my dry beans out of the garden. Then, I cleaned up the old pumpkin plants out of the garden to burn. THis year I got a whole truck load of pumpkins, so the Cub Cadet didn't help with that. Next, I adjusted the carburetor a little to make it run better cold. Then I jump started the 1450 and drove it up to the shop to get the charging system working again. I'm afraid I gonna have to get a new battery as its the one I got with the tractor and its failing. This was about the most Cub Cadetish day I've had in months. Next I'm gonna plow the garden to freeze out the squash bugs.

toyman 11-03-2010 08:37 AM

It was actually Sunday, but my 982 rear is still apart. I got the axle tube gasket on and I happily didn't need to helicoil the case. The bolts were just a little short. I chased the threads and they torqued very nicely. I still need to get the rear cover back on, fill with hi-tran and replace the relief valves. I ordered from LJ supply and they couldn't have been nicer on the phone or quicker with their shipment. Great to deal with. Once I get that all back together, she'll get a rest for the winter. I'm hoping to be done this weekend. I also want to get a set of vredestein ribs for the 1862 for snow blowing. The original turfs are pretty tired and worn, so I'm going to have to do something soon.

Methos 11-03-2010 09:45 AM

Everyone's been busy.

Jude nice looking work your doing up there. You can keep all the snow tho.

_DX3_ 11-03-2010 12:26 PM

I finally got the PTO off of the 128 engine and I used the trick of drilling two holes in the basket pulley to remove it with my puller. Worked like a dream. All the set screws came out great, but the pulley bearing was an absolute bear, but with persistence and a beer or two to control my desire to hit it with a big ole hammer I finally got it off... :biggrin2.gif: All I have left to remove is the flywheel and I need to run to the local TSC to pick up a couple grade 8 bolts long enough to work with my puller. Then I can open up the oil pan and remove the rod, piston and see what the insides look like. Today is clean up day, getting all my tools back in place and vacuuming up all the crud that came off the motor and flywheel screen. That stuff is blacker than coal dust and just as bad. LOL

Sminkey 11-03-2010 09:18 PM

Thanks guys!

I've been so busy at work this week but found the time to do some late night cubbin. Only 1 day off this week, then 17 days in a row:beer2:. My other chef is taking 2 week vaca. and I have a new guy, but he's very green and I'll need to be there everyday:BlahBlah:. SO, hopefully I can find some time in the next 2 weeks to put the blower back together. We have over 3' of snow at the top of Stowe mountain and looks to be starting off with a bang this year, hope we get tons of snow!!

ACecil 11-03-2010 10:16 PM

Be sure to get some action shots, Jude! :beerchug:

_DX3_ 11-05-2010 09:43 PM

YOu can see the lift at the top rear and the two point at the bottom of the rear end. Also the lift assist spring on the left hand side.
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...Image004-1.jpg

CLoser look at spring on left and the thick flat stock on the right is what lifts the rear single lift with the lift lever on the right of the tractor

Thanks, it took me about an hour or so with de-greaser and Red Power cleaner, a brush and the water hose to get it to looking like that. I have several pictures a page or two back that showed what it looked like when I initially took it apart.

nevermind i found what i was looking for i would have to buy a 3pt kit with the plate and arms. so im goin to make the sleeve hitch. anything i should know before i go makeing one?

Sugarmaker 11-07-2010 07:04 PM

I'll try to stay on topic here,
Well the 86 was used to haul the AigrFab 4 wheel wagon to the garden and load it up with corn stalks and other dried garden rems, then off to the burn pile. (The wagon was painted Cub yellow several years ago and comes in very handy hauling fire wood too.) Cheryl jumped on the 86 at the burn pile (she thought it was to close) and moved the empty wagon behind the sugarhouse. That clutch is really getting pretty weak so its on the list of things to do too. That 8 hp is the easiest starting tractor of the bunch and has the smoothest shifting.
I did start the 73 again and yes it smokes just as bad as yesterday.

Regards,
Chris

Got to putting some of the blower back together tonight, not a show piece, but turned out nice enough for me:biggrin2.gif:. Can't wait to get it mounted on the 71!

Both that snowblower and the carb look great!

Mizar I saw your post about the ash trees. Are you sure it was a blight? Here in the east there is a huge ash borer problem that is decimating trees. All the State Forestry Services are saying don't take your firewood camping or move it from state to state for fear of spreading the little bugger.

I was going to try to use the super today to bring firewood up to the garage. It has been acting up since I parked it on the hill to take the shadow pics. Well I thought it was the starter but she cranked fine and ran but smoked like crazy. I had a suspicion and sure enough the crank case oil is thin and full of fuel. I guess when I stopped on an angle on the hill the carb float stuck and flooded the crankcase. I'm pretty sure mine has the walbro carb and I think it's going to get a new Kohler carb this week! Along with an oil change of course. I've only got about 3 hours on it since I changed it last, dang it.
