Yeah, it sucked running it on a 98°day on a cab less tractor. Loud too. Like a jet. Not like deafening.... but loud.
It did a job. It's like like you burned the weeds to ashes. Just got them hot. They would either die, or it would stunt them long enough for the crop to get ahead of them. Problem is, it did the same to the crop. Corn would turn yellow sometimes. Beans, just slowed their growth. Soybeans are very residual, and can take a hard beating and pull through. Corn is in the grass family. It doesn't like having to work hard to grow. Did it work? It helped, but I'm not convinced it didn't cause yield to really suffer. We did good to get 50 bushel beans and 125 bushel corn.
Since it is so wet here, I'm thinking of doing it in the garden. Nothing but a wet sponge. Gotta do something with the weeds. I have one of those handhelds you have. Going to use it.
