Love the picture Duke. I got the kids out today for a ride in the snow, Sun is out for the first time in a week. Still cold but sure is nice to see the sun!! Had to take a couple picture's while they were out. Jeff the front ags on the 1282 rock in the snow, I thought I might have to turn them around for better turning, but they work great the way they are. Rich has several more sets of them, keep that in mind if your down this way. Can't beat them for the price.

Eric,
Are they new or used tires? |
Mike, they are new NOS. He found them at a closed dealer. They are Goodyear suregrips. He has some other's to but I can't remember what brand they were.

Looking very nice Eric:beerchug: The sun was shining here brightly today too:biggrin2:. I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I've had so much seat time today I had to throw in the towel. I still have about and hours worth of snow removal to deal with yet, will get to it tomorrow. We've got another 3-6" coming on Sat.:biggrin2:

Love the pictures. Those Red Cubs sure do show up good in the snow :biggrin2: Sminkey Glad to hear you are getting plenty of Seat time  |
I got in about an hour's worth of mowing . . . not that it needed mowing but it was kinda sticking up a bit . . . and it looked a bit like it could use a trim . . . and the 104 was just sitting there . . . I ended up lunching the deck belt
Guess I'll be pulling the deck for my first time and seeing how it all works. I'd like to support the site's sponsors - any recommendations on who would be best to order a belt from? |
Thanks guys. Jude to much seat time:HeadScratch:!!!!

finally got the narrow carlisle snowblower tires on the front of my 86. its amazing how much better a cub looks with freshly painted front rims.it steers so much better now instead of skidding when you try to turn. i now have these 4inch wide tires on the 86 with the plow and the 6.5 inch ones on the 1450 with the blower

Nice 86 and tires, Nick!

I got to watch my son and the cub expert test out the 125 and 1200 today. They did share a little seat time with me today. It wasn't equal time but any seat time is better then no seat time.
|
Looks like a nice day there Duke! Good to hear ya got a little seat time:biggrin2: Talk to ya in a bit...
|
I wonder, who that cub expert fella is? :biggrin2:

Not really what I've done today but a review of the past couple of days.
Evan was driving the 125 around Tuesday and the steering wheel came off. We've been talking about what to do if something happens when he's on one of the cubs and he reached down and turned the key off just like we've been talking about. In fact that morning he told me that's what he would do if he had a problem on the cub. He made me proud and his mom worried.:biggrin2: I showed Evan how to disasemble a carter carb and how to soak it in a can of carb cleaner. Tonight we get to rebuild the carb and remove the bowl from the gas tank and clean it out. He's been enjoying getting his hands dirty. His mom just :RollEyes2: but he enjoys it. I think I've tracked down a plow for him so I can teach him how to plow the garden beds.:biggrin2: If he likes it I'll try and take him to the red neck plow days in SC on 3-19-11. I'm really hoping he takes a liking to plowing I need some company going to these plow days. We'll fire up the cubs and get some seat time making laps around the yard tonight. He starts off on the 125 then switches to the 1200 for a change. He does pretty good with it but I've got to adjust the seat for his legs and not mine.:biggrin2: Over all we've been having a blast with the cubs the past week. Allen's vist has gotten him hooked on "seat time". Before he would ask to drive the cubs but now he has to have his "seat time!" Thanks Allen! |
Well i got the snowblower working right. It thows snow about 20 feet. I need some more snow!
|
Anytime Duke! What are friends for!! :biggrin2:
|
I hope I can get my girl hooked! I really really dont want her to turn out to be hooked on a cell phone

what i did today
I just got an AGS2140 home yesterday. It was in the pasture behind my dads house for a few years since he bought a zero turn. I just bought a new house and needed a mower so I thought Id see if I could get her running agian. Took the front body panels off, dug several huge mouse nest out of the engine compartment, changed the oil, installed new battery, inspected wiring and conections, and got her to run smooth as silk. I also took the deck off and gave it a good cleaning.
Tomorrow plan to check the trany, get a tire fixed that wouldnt hold air, and see if everything else works as well as the engine does. Then Ill think about repainting becuase it looks pretty rough. Pretty productive day in my opinion. |
Got some much needed seat time today! Here's a pic, Duke...lol.

Thanks Bill! I'll be plowing with the 122, and I'm really looking forward to it! Come on down to NC, it's going to be in the 60's and 70's this week.
|
Lol we had -31 degrees earlier this week and yesterday it got up to 38 above. So I was plowing some slushy ice/snow this weekend also

I got the carb rebuilt on the 125 yesterday and set it to the default settings and it runs like a top! I didn't have to make any changes to it. It felt nice! I also got a replacement sediment bowl on it. That was a pain in the :censored:. I showed Evan how to fire it up from the seat. I had been using vise-grips to keep the choke open. It was a hack job but was tempoary until I got the gas flowing from the tank. The sediment bowl was the problem.:censored:
I got some seat time on the 1200, Evan made sure I didn't get to drive any more then he did,so he fired up the 125 and we made laps. When I started working on getting Allen's 122 running again Evan was still making laps in the yard. With Allen's 122 I put the carb, coil, gas tank, plug wire ect back on and put a new autolite 216 in for him. I installed the new key switch and choke cable Allen picked up. I got a new battery for the 1200 and used it to start up the 122 and fell in love with the 425 cold cranking amps it got! Hearing the 122 running was great but kinda sad I know it's a matter of time before Allen gets it and it becomes his. The thing that makes it easier is I know it's going to a good home and it will be well taken care of, and I did tell Allen if he ever got tired of it I would buy it back. I'm going to call the machine shop tomorrow and price out to have the 301AQS rebuilt. It's burning oil and I'm not going to keep pouring oil in it. It needs to be rebuilt and so I'm going to make it happen. I'm not looking forward to the bill but it's going to be worth it when I take to to the redneck plow day and feel the power of it being rebuilt. It was a great day with some good seat time and wrenching time.:beer2: |
Duke, the 122 looks awesome! Can't wait to get it home! :beerchug:

No seat time here but I did get the rest of my 42" deck disassembled and found a number of bits that need to be re-worked or replaced. Center spindle and the cast iron center section are going to be replaced (outboard spindles seem ok so far) as well as the idler/tension pulley spring and the pivot bolt for the idler arm. Deck over all is in pretty good shape, one tear needs to be welded, a bunch of torch heat and hammering will take care of the wows and warts and I need to forge up a new end-plate for the non-discharge side.
All in all I'm pleased with the shape everything is in and given that this is my first shot at getting into any part of the 104 in earnest, it's great to see how truly stout it all is! |
For all you guys with snow and ice.....
