We were lucky here also. Prayers for everyone up north.

The worst of Sandy missed us as well. 30-40mph wind and some rain. Typical central NY weather for this time of year. Prayers being sent to all that didn't fare so well.

I am still without power here in CT... We will probably be without it for a couple more days. We have a 7500 W generator so we can power just about everything 110. I am running now with my modem and comp powered up from the generator. Luckily we have phone lines still. (Just discovered today) :bash2:

I GOT POWER BACK!!!! :beer2::beer2: So relieved, It wasn't as bad as last year. This year was only 4.5 days. Last year was 13.

Glad your back. Time for a standby gen set with Cheat Loot & Plunder as your power provider.

Used to think they were the worst till I moved south and experienced Crappalachian Power :biggrin2:

We have a 7500 watt Generator, We call them Candle Light and Propane, Lol. I am looking for someone who has a blown generator engine and is willing to scrap the gen so i can take it off and affix and weld up a bracket to put it on the front of my cub like the factory ones. Then we will have power on wheels. :beerchug:

Glad all made it thru. Here in N.C. we had enought wind to thake down a few trees and at least one death as a result.
Ski resorts on the mts. are cranked up the earliest in recent memory, with me that could be just a few minutes ago. Even here in the sunny south we still keep stand by gens. and wood stoves as back up. One never knows.

Monday at 8:45 PM, the power went out. Had a couple nice surges before the electric went away. Power finally was restored her in the upper NE corner of Montgomery County (PA) at 5:30 PM today (Friday)

I went out around 10 pm Monday to see how thing were looking with the 60 mph sustained winds. The trees were literally twisting instead of the usual swaying so I went back inside.

As an added bonus, my battery on the suburban died on Monday at 5PM when I got kicked out of work and had to get a jump start from my supervisor Ken. We took turns holding his hood so it wouldn't get bent back over the windshield from the winds. So Tuesday we went to a local Auto Zone to get a battery ( I called, they said they were open and on generator power). On the way to the store 7 miles away, they were literally hundreds of trees down and many hanging on the wires. A lot of big trees were snapped off like twigs.

We have a generator so we were able to keep the two refrigerators cold and the extra large chest freezer "frozen". Since we're on a well, I replenished our drinking water jugs at work and water for the toilet came from the neighbor's overflow from his pond. ( I did return the tadpole to the stream ) Heat was supplied by the Franco-Belge oil burner ( gravity feed convection heater ) and our Harman fireplace insert so we were nice and toasty. Cooking was done on our new gas stove

As far as loses, we lost two TV's from the surge along with the comcast on demand box and I'm pretty sure my "new to me" computer is fried

But as much as five days without power is an inconvenience, it's nothing compared to the folks down by the shore who lost their homes.

Jeff, Glad you made it through the storm too. You had some bad luck with your battery, at least the store was open to help. That stinks about your TVs and cable box, luckily we didn't have any casualties due to power surges.
