Thanks everyone.
I'm getting Jeff to make me a new driveshaft but I thought I better fit the old one up before I send him the dimensions. Good thing I did because the original is a little over 1/2" short. This just a test fit so don't make fun of my bolts.:biggrin2: Here is the front fitted up. Looks normal to me. Attachment 84303 Here is what the back looks like.:bigthink: Attachment 84304 No movement on the motor plate either. The next hole is 1.2" back so that won't work. Attachment 84305 This tractor now has an Onan P220 in it but I had to use the crank and oil pan from the old B48G original engine. I'm thinking the blocks are the same but maybe not Any thoughts on why she no worky? |

Looks like your shorter than a 1/2", the shaft goes into the pump coupler also like on my 1512.

You are correct Mr. Lew. I looked closer at the front and it is short also
Attachment 84360 Attachment 84361 Time to bust out Mr. Tape Measure and draw up some plans. It would be easy to do if this was a 5/8 shaft but the SGT's use a 3/4 shaft that is turned down to 5/8 on the ends. |
So...
you should be able to slide the motor to the next hole and see if it fits. |
Looking good Todd!:beerchug:

I think I found my issue. I was looking at a B48G on my bench and I noticed the flywheel is different on the P220 making the engine about 7/8" shorter.

PM sent just now....

I read this thread late the other night, and meant to say that..... guess I just thought it and didn't post it. I didn't know for sure if the flywheels were different, but assumed that they were. Now you know! Can you swap them? :bigthink: |
J, I don't think they can be swapped because of the ignition parts. I think I read somewhere that you had to machine out some of the B48G's flywheel for clearance of those parts. It also looks like I would need to change the shroud out too. It needs a new drive shaft because the original is worn at the ends. I usually make my own but the SGT's use 3/4 shaft turned down to 5/8 on the ends so I think Mr. Jeff in PA is gonna hook me up.:beerchug:
