Plastic wire ties will be used to secure the pex to the steel. No insulation will be used on the ground, everything with any kind of R value is against code. I don’t have any other choice but put the pex against the steel.

Yes, you are correct Jon. I poured a 20”x20”(average) footer for my 12” wide 18” deep mono slab to sit on. It will have #4 grade 60 rebar on 1’ centers with an average slab thickness of 7”.

Good to see you're making progress. Sorry for your frustration up to this point. Hoping the rest of the build-out will go more smoothly.

if I could repour my slab in my shop, I'd have heated floor. much nicer to walk on a warm floor than have forced air heat blowing around. my heater burns waste motor oil, but it still doesn't warm up the floor, and its noisy. feet get cold standing on it, and sucks if you have to lay down under something.

Nice Looking work Todd!:beerchug: We have been getting the same rain here every day! Hard to get anything done! :bash2::bash2:
You will enjoy those floor drains and the A/C!! I have an insulated 30X30.... wish I had the drains... hardly ever run the heat... run the A/C all the time!!:beerchug:

Thanks everyone. Awesome news, just watched the local weather forecast and they are calling for 70% chance of rain just about every day for the next week. I can't remember a summer as wet as the one we are having this year in the 25 years I have lived in Georgia.:bash2:

Thanks Coop! It looks like all the contractors are backed up too because of the weather.

Hang in there Oak. The sun will come out eventually. When the shop is finished you will have something to be proud of, having built it yourself. Looks great so far.

Jeepers Todd, your weather SUCKS!!!
Might have to consider putting up some posts, and tarp for a roof to keep the rain off.:biggrin2:
