And we also made a small weight bracket for the rear. http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/v...3/102_0690.jpg

cubs-n-bxrs 04-02-2011 04:41 PM

Well I pulled the new to me 682 out of the garage today and got the neutral and hydro creep adjusted. Then I hooked up to the york rake and dragged the stones out of the yard from the snow blower. :Cub8:

dieseldan123 04-02-2011 04:45 PM

I got the hydro issue figured out on the 1811! turns out i had too much fluid in the rear end and he filter clogged up from gunk i couldnt get out.:bash2: so new filter and drained some fluid and all is normal again!:beerchug:

I was able to test my just rebuilt mower deck. It mowed pretty nice. It sure is nice mowing with power steering.

OH hush!!! LMAOO!! Man that thing sure is great looking. I can't grumble too much, you sure did get the 782 steering real good. Everyone that has tried it has gotten bug eyed when they steered it, LOL.. couldn't get over how easy it is. I just got done putting a good coat of wax on her too.

ACecil 04-02-2011 07:31 PM

Awesome pics, guys! :beerchug:

I got some great seat time on the 100 & 122. Hope y'all enjoy the pics!

You should have seen how horrible it steered with the old steering box/column in it. It is one of the easiest manual steerings I've used. The v61tires made it steer even easier.

william1041200 04-02-2011 09:17 PM

I finally got the steering tunnel off the 107 frame today. :beerchug:
these Hydros are no joke- Everything is tied together so well!! Unfortunately I had to use Chisel blaster to remove most bolts on this one. PB did nothing for me this round. I even busted the darn rockshafts trying to get them off the clutch/brake shaft. I tried so hard to keep them intact. Now I have a new machining task for this conversion. ugh.

MrGitrdone41 04-02-2011 09:30 PM

Got the 123 ready to go back it the owner:Cry1:But i might be getting a 73!:beerchug:The man is the orginal owner and has all the manuals and a great looking steel seat. I hope i can get it!:GoodLuck:

Sminkey 04-02-2011 09:37 PM

Good work William!! Sounds like some work, I mean fun:biggrin2:

MrGitrdone, sorry to hear the 123 is leaving, but a 73 to replace it with would be much better, BIGTIME good luck!! Hope to see some pics of it soon:beerchug:

william1041200 04-02-2011 09:40 PM

This time around, it was more work, less fun. Im just so darned determined and bloody knuckles wont stop me.
sundown will. ... and dinner...

JayBrd 04-02-2011 10:23 PM

aagitch, allen great pics!!

I had to add some "bling" to the receiver hitch that I have been waiting/forgeting to do for a while now :biggrin2:

Looks like with the warmer weather, everyone is getting in some needed cub time...band aid time...heheheh

I took the 582 clutch apart today, the drive shaft is in very good condition.I had the clutch disc trued up and got all the pieces together for reassembly.
Tomorrow is another day...

ajgross 04-02-2011 11:13 PM

I think I would have upgraded the spring. that seems to be the biggest weak point on those clutches. I bet a aftermarket stronger spring was cheaper too.

AJ

ajgross 04-02-2011 11:15 PM

In case you do want to upgrade the spring, he is the part numbers for a blue spring. not sure what the pressure rating is though. New Holland (part # PECP1511A1) or AGCO (part # EP1511)

darkminion_17 04-02-2011 11:16 PM

The cub spring was a freebie,I think I have a used red spring around somewhere.
under edit,
Thanks AJ for the #s on the springs!!

Sminkey 04-02-2011 11:21 PM

Nice stuff Lew!! Where did you get you're clutch plates trued up?? Very nice job on those:biggrin2: I'm gonna have to post a pic of the 124's driveshaft, it's pretty scary:bigeyes:

nickvanorman 04-03-2011 12:34 AM

got the yard rolled again after another fun week of tearing it up with the Honda big red and the new Honda 250SX three wheelers. the 102 usually does this job but for some odd reason it quit on me so i pushed it into the garage and robbed the battery from it. its sat for about 3 weeks now. i unhooked the tiller from the 122 and put the hitch on it and rolled the yard with the 122. good thing i did. the AG tread tires made a difference. after, i hooked up the chisel plow and dug out some of the crap from the ditch so the culvert would drain properly. shoveled it all into a wagon pulled by the Sears 14-6 and hauled it all to the hedgerow. the 122 is running awesome. clutch slips horrible though. good thing i got a nice rebuilt replacement!!!:biggrin2::biggrin2: just need the ambition to put it in though...:BangPC:

Matt G. 04-03-2011 12:39 AM

Lewis-

If you plan on doing anything other than mowing with that 582, you need a stronger spring. The 582 will slip a new clutch with an OEM spring under a hard pull. I would also not reuse a used OEM spring, regardless of what tractor it is in. They get weak after awhile.

eastonct124 04-03-2011 12:54 AM

Well, the 124 hasn't been idling right. I assume it's a clogged carb, or head gasket.
So, I rebuilt the carb (it was time anyway).
Found a nasty blowby.....filed the carb, and block straight and reinstall.
Still, poor idle...but it came and went.
Did, points, condensor, plug, and wire. No change.
Then I noticed the pos wire to the coil was cracked bad...so, made a new wire.
I've got it idleing for awhile, sounds alright, then I decide to brakecleaner all the gaskets, just to check. The carb is good, clean the block and points cover, still good.
Hit the head, and the rpms shot up.
Darn, I was praying it wasn't a head gasket.
I pulled the head off, it was a 2" long blowby where the exhaust valve is.
I look at the clock....the local place closes in 15 minutes.
Well, atleast I figured it out.....and rebuilt everything else along the way.
These things happen when machines run right for a long time.
I ignore the clues, and get lazy.
But the 122 purrs like a kitten....even starts with the throttle on idle after a little choke.

Diz Jr. 04-03-2011 11:01 AM

eastonct124
Sounds like you are getting a lot of the little things fixed as you go :beerchug:
Hopefully a new head gasket will make it good as new

There was some talk on another post about cleaning and waxing versus painting. It got me to thinking, so today was very nice out, I took the rear fender seat pan for the 128 out and washed it up, then used the fine grit compound first followed up with a wax/cleaner combo. Yep I think I will just leave the yellow at least original. The paint is really thing tho in several spots. Will still give paint a consideration, but in reality, it would probably be ok for many years. It will primarily be a run around tractor for the trailer, yard sweeper and maybe the brinly plow. Hoping to get my motor finished up in a couple of weeks, or at least very close to being done. Am so glad spring and green is here again. Is good for the soul. :beerchug:

Yesterday I repainted the outside set of wheel weights on the 1450. They had a few scratches on them from the tire chain tightening straps. I bolted them back on today and took it for a quick spin around the yard. This was the first time I drove it since installing 4 Heim Joints. I tell you guys one thing, it isn't power steering but darn close!!

Super Sharp 1450 Steve:beerchug: She looks 4 wheel drive:biggrin2: I hear ya on the Heim joints, I replaced one on the 71 with a Heim that has a zerk on it. Also replaced bushing in column with a bearing and with just those 2 things combined it steers so much nicer.

darkminion_17 04-03-2011 09:45 PM

I got a chance today to work on the 582 I picked up last Sunday.Drained out the 2 1/2 qts of oil and gas.Rebuilt the carb,it was a little different rebuilding a briggs one but not difficult.A thick piece of paper was all I needed to get the fuel pump back together.Put it all back together and it fired right up.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
There goes that guy with all the cubs down the street, heheheheh
Still gotta figure out what is wrong with the shifter...
Matt,I have an old red spring laying around, seems to be an 1/8"longer than the stock one.Any input would be appreciated.
Jude.
A friend of mine who is a machinist does most of the work for me.gratis

Matt G. 04-03-2011 10:47 PM

Lewis-

Get a 5/8" locking collar to put behind the red spring, compress it 3/4" which is about 650 lbs. That's enough to hold 16 hp and not much more pedal force than the OEM spring.

darkminion_17 04-03-2011 10:51 PM

Thanks Matt!!!

Dang everyone has been very busy this week! Great pics and stories! Thanks for sharing them!

ajgross 04-04-2011 03:33 AM

I got quite a bit done today. For those who don't know, I'm currently rebuilding a 782. Today I finally got a engine in it and running. It's my verticle to horizontal converted M20. It had a bad oil leak, but it looks like thrid times a charm on the oil seals! No leaks. I'll probably end up putting a kt17 II in it though. I can't put a PTO on the M20. I also loaded it up and took it to where I work and got the trunion repaired. I started putting the sheet metal on it, but realized I don't have all the new bolts for it I need. So hopefully in a day to two, I'll get pics of it finished.

AJ

Oh yeah, I also got a lead on the elusive 582 Special that I've been looking for. I hope to go pick it up next weekend.

toyman 04-04-2011 11:59 AM

I re-arranged my vehicles and tractors to open my woodshop up for a few projects. The 1862 has been used for snow duty, so she was easy. I plan on taking the blower off this week, changing the oil and Hytran. The 982 needed the battery charged, but she fired right up. I'll be getting the tiller installed and hope for dry weather so I can prep the garden. The 70 got pushed over to the other garage also since the drivetrain is out. I need to remove the PTO so I need to do some research and get on that. The bad: When I fired up my 70 Chevelle to move, she started fine, but I heard a pop as I was backing out. I looked on the ground and saw the evil green liquid. Parked her in her normal stall and checked out everything from above. All the radiator hoses and water pump were fine. Checked the freeze plugs and found one laying on the drivers side motor mount:angry: Oh well, I'll have a little project coming up on it also.

gcbailey 04-04-2011 07:05 PM

Well I've been working on rebuilding the carb on the 127 for about a week now... mainly waiting on parts. I got the carb in and adjusted to factory settings and the 127 purred right to life. I've got a quick vid posted on my youtube for those that are subscribers. Not much too it, just a lap around the yard from the drivers seat.

_DX3_ 04-06-2011 09:58 PM

Decided to pull the 128 front axle off today and clean out all the old grease and make sure everything was ok. The axle pin looked good, the axle fit good and tight with no wobble. Also decided to use some rubbing compound and wax on the outside of the frame.

Transmission now nice and clean underneath.

dieseldan123 04-07-2011 02:11 AM

Nice job DX3!

I took the 1811 out again and mowed the yard next door. It was pretty much abandoned so the yard was getting pretty tall. It mowed that grass like a champ! Kinda ready to see what it will do when the grass gets taller than the hood now! :biggrin2:

Fiddled with the 123. Still has grimlin lurking in the wires somewhere, oh well i dont mind starting it with a mutulated screw driver, for now but realy want to get that fixed before i do cause damage. Sorry i didnt take any pics. I was having too much fun with the seat time i got! :beerchug:

_DX3_ 04-07-2011 10:45 PM

Gorgeous day here again. Decided to hook up the 5x8 trailer to the 782 and did pick up twig day. I love willow trees, but they shed like a dog, Oh my aching back. lol. Got a heck of a nice bonfire going this evening with them. Nope, no pics. Sorry guys. Now if the garden spot will dry out I will be able to disc it.
