Awesome pics, of some sharp cubs, Eric!

Finally finished the rework on my 42" deck:
Disassembled, sandblasted, primer, painted. The 104 is a working tractor not a restore so I'm sticking to the PO's rattle-can paint scheme - the deck is "Hardware Store White" straight out the can New cast iron nose and rebuilt center spindle thanks to Mark Hellrung of IH Cub Cadet Parts ( Thank you Mark for fitting those into an already tight schedule!!) New deck belt from the local JD dealer. Had to do a fair amount of weld rebuilding of various worn parts on the mule drive and QA hitch. It's all back together and hanging under the 104 - everything is working well but I can't even pretend to get out and mow . . . we've had 37 days of rain out of the last 40 and with the slope I live on, there's no way I'm going to just go and sling mud all over the place  |
Won't be doing much today! Our county is in a tornado warning right now!

Had a bunch of limbs to pick up, after yesterday's bad storms. Glad that was all, I had to get up! Very thankful today! Also got the 122 out for some seat time! :biggrin2:

Well I tried to do some good in the last 24 hours but to no avail. I thought I would build a mag18 for my 582 Special last night but come to find out, with all the mag parts I have, I can't get one together. The good crank I have is a oddball and they only rods that would work with it, were the ones that it came with, but one of them was scrored bad and the other had a broken stud. None of my other rods fit, so I tore apart my other somewhat complete engine and found that the crank was compatible with my good rods but it had a bad crank journal, so I guess I'm S.O.L.. The engine I tore apart suffered massive catastophic failure. Governor was blown apart, both rods broke, one cylinder had both skirts broke, the other cylinder had one skirt broke. Both pistons were shot. I guess the good is that the cam seemed intact and no holes in the cases. So now I have a bunch of parts to send to the scrap yard. mo' money, mo' money

Didnt get to do jack with my cubs today. I bought a ported hydro rear from a 1811, I think it was. Dont' care. It has AUTO release tow valves, and is known to run and work perfectly. I bought a brand new driveshaft with steel flywheel coupler, and hardened steel drive pin. Good deals all around today for me. I put down some grass seed and fertilizer today. That should help my seat time in future for this year. :beerchug:

Spent the weekend at my grandparents place in southern Illinois and took a few pics of the three cubs sitting in the barn. Also would like some help knowing when the O was made. In order: IH 108 with 38'' deck, 70 (was burnt when new at the dealer and restored by my granddad who was employed there), and Original. Kinda hard to tell but are the spindles on the O collared? There isnt a bolt head on the top like Ive seen with others.

with the kids over Spring Break, I thought I would see how good a rattle can paint job will look on a set of spare side covers I have for the Super. Nice breeze blowing tonight, no bugs yet, a big, well lit front porch and a 6 pack of suds. Will let you all know how it turns out, right now it's in primer.

Now that sounds like a nice laid back evening with something you love :biggrin2:

I cleaned up hydro rear today. Cleaned up real nice! Now I will have some heavier swapping to do later. Im gonna have a heck of a clean cub - might look like a trailer queen, but I intend to work it hard!!!!
