Today, I reassembled the S/G for my 100 and got it charging again. The field wire had broken loose from the terminal inside and the brushes were worn down to half their original size. Reattached the field wire and put in new brushes and it should be good for many more years. I also threw the armature in my lathe and hit the commutator with some emery cloth to clean it up.

Catching up, did a little last weekend and this weekend. Painted up the blades on both machines. Put a volt meter in and a rear light on the 2072. Neighbor tried out the 2072 on the 1 inch of ice we got. He fell in love with the machine. and I have the snow blower all ready for our storm this week for Sam.

Well technically it was "what did I do with my Cub yesterday" but I hope that won't ruffle too many feathers, har har. Woke up to see 5 - 6 inches of heavy wet snow, think perfect snow ball material. Fortunately, I had brought the 1862 up from the shed and parked it in the garage the night before so it was just a simple matter of opening the garage door and getting busy throwing some snow. After I finished with my driveway, I noticed that several neighbors hadn't been out to do their drives so I made the rounds on the cul du sac. Then I headed down the road to a good friend who had hurt his back and cleaned his drive, and then went to the friends house who drives my daughter to school, and then I went ......

All told I cleared 10 drives in about 90 minutes. Of course, mother nature had to throw her two cents into the equation and dumped a steady rain on me after the first 3 driveways (found out the Carhart jacket isn't waterproof AT ALL) so I weighed a good 20 lbs heavier when I got back inside.

I'm really amazed at how much snow my 20+ year old tractor/blower can move. It clearly likes to throw the snow further to the right than the left but I plan on putting some rubber tips on the impeller blades to see if that will help. Overall it was a good day in the saddle.

The Clarence modification.. yes, you will notice a throwing distance improvement. I have done it to about 6 walk behind throwers of all brands, Helped in all cases.

Same weather we had here on Long Island. I got the bulk of the heavy snow plowed before it changed to sleet than rain. The second time out was to clear about 2" of heavy heavy mush.

Swapped out the QA36 for an upgrade. An H42. The old saying "All gave some, Some gave all?" The QA36 pretty much gave all.

Found the H42 on CL, it appears to be a low use unit, I gave it a good going over tightened to chain lubed it all up and proceeded to fight the crap out of it, to get it mounted on the 782.

That is the most difficult implement I ever put on old red, MAN. But once it was mounted up, I took her out and let the big dog eat!
