Bet Travis forgot that part...:biggrin2:  Lawn, and mower look good Lew.:beerchug: Is that there deck one of their first "high vacuum" decks? Not being funny, just thinking it is/was. Cause I had one similar on a LT, and that thing would plug up with grass just thinking about cutting... But we have LOTS of other stuff growing besides grass that just make them plug up.:bigthink: |
Changed the Hydro Fluid and Filter, new Glo-Plugs, Engine Oil & Filter

You all with your Supers are making me want to dig mine out and fix it up! I've been getting good use from my 1811 mowing new grass at home. Got a JD 400 now too, great tractor but I need to figure out deck adjustments. One big problem in the way of it being a great mowing tractor though. My 1872 can turn three times as sharp as that green thing!

1572 Rear End
I managed to get some garage time and changed the axle seals, cleaned and replaced the rear cover with a new gasket, and changed the trunion springs. Today I will be replacing the 'cork' between the Hydro and Rear Diff.
I also went to change the PTO switch as it doesn't stay engaged with one of the ones I have lying around, but after getting the old PTO switch removed from the dash I see the 1572 uses a different Switch from my 1650's :-( |

Look at the Wiring Diagrams between the two tractors. My guess is the safety switching within the switch is a bit different Things like ' with PTO switch on, can't start tractor. and Seat switch not active then PTO can't be engaged. etc. When I made an entire new harness for my 782, I bypassed the safety switching that ran threw that switch and just have a single pole single throw switch to power the front pto. Look at the two wiring diagrams, maybe you can make the switch you have work . |
Tony, I will take a look at the 2 wiring diagrams. I have a couple of good PTO switches, don’t feel like spending $40 unnecessarily.

If I remember correctly. There are two sources that provide Power to the Engine Coil. The Seat switch ( when sitting on the seat) is one and the PTO switch (when switch is in the OFF position) is the other. The Coil is powered up by the PTO switch if you are not sitting on the seat But not using the Front PTO. If you are sitting on the seat then power goes to the coil that way so you can use the PTO with engine stalling. Hard to write so it is understandable..sorry.

I went to get the 1641 from the shed to move a trailer but had to spend a little time cleaning a rat/mouse nest up first. At least it wasn't in the flywheel cover.

I put the deck back on the 1211 and got the grass mowed, after that I turned my boy loose with the 108 and the lawn sweeper.

Enough is enough. Pulled the deck and mule drive off 2182. Not mowing again this year unless I use my Dad's 2072 sitting behind my shed!:biggrin2:
Never scraped my deck down this year. Mowed wet a few times in June. Caused some rust scaling. Knew better but my time is not my own anymore.... Scraped out a full five gallon pail full. Wire brushed the deck. Oil the crap out of it with used motor oil and stood it up in back of shed. D U N Done! |
