New ags on my M48 ztr

I love the new to me Cub Tank M48 except for one thing, stinking crappy turf tires. Most all of us GT guys know that ags work so much better than turf tires. I got the ZTR stuck 3 times having to use my 4runner to get it unstuck. I ordered a set of Deestone ags that afternoon and got them mounted up 2 days ago. The steering control is much better and grass destruction from spinning turf tires while turning is greatly reduced. Just thought I would post some pics. The tires are the usual 23x10.50/12's.

:biggrin2: Time to change that problem.

The first kid on the block with AG's on a ZTR. Now you need to load them and figure out how to hook up a 3 point on it. :biggrin2:

Looks good, any pics of it when it was stuck?

LOL, no, I wasn't in a good mood and pics were last thing on my mind.

Those look great!! I'd like to get a set on my zero turn and not have those stinking marks every time I turn. I'm not for sure on my size tires though. Great pics and great inspiration for me to do something about my problem.

The whole thing about a zero turn is that it's just capable of doing a zero turn. If you don't want tear marks you really need to make a 3 point turn. No matter what type of tire you use, if you have one tire turning and the other not turning, you will always get tear out.

What happens if you turn them like a dozer one forward and one in reverse? :bigthink:

You can, that's what I usually do, but I think technically they still call that a 3 point, because if you just rotate like a dozer would, you'd be pointed right back in the same direction unless you moved over at least the deck width.

The key point is, you just can't have a wheel not rotating, if it's not spinning, it'll tear out the turf.

Thanks Gary. That makes sense. I don't always leave marks, just during the spring when the soil is moist. Maybe I will work on my technique.

Technique is a big part. The main reason I put on the ags, is due to very wet soil here when it is the rainy season and the ZT just seems to sink with the turf tires all packed with mud and will only spin making things worse. I needed to be able to make it thru the mud or be able to reverse and get out. I wasn't able to do that with the turfs. I have been learning the slight 3 point turn and it works great.
