Road Trip!!!!

Well, I'm heading up to NY tomorrow to get my 73 and finally meet Jeff. I'll be at his place on Saturday afternoon. At first I thought it was going to be a nice trip for me and the wife, but one thing and another happens so the boys are coming too!!! I'm hoping on the way back we can swing by my wife's grandfather's place and maybe I can pull back a 149 too!!! Now that would be too sweet.

juniors1282 05-26-2011 09:10 AM

You should swing in and see Mike and me on your way by. Which way are you going up I have some parts for Jeff, I could meet you out on 79 and that would save the shipping.

Methos 05-26-2011 09:32 AM

Gary have a safe trip. That would be awesome if you could get the 73 and the 149 on the same trip!:Woo: Looking forward to your pics!

TEET 05-26-2011 09:44 AM

I've been PM'ing Mike. I think we are going up 79. She wants to see her grandfather, but we are probably going to come back down and see him. I don't know what time we're leaving (I'd like to leave EARLY). We can try to figure something out. My 20 month old rides good, but for how long I don't know. :) So I say we'll be making some stops.

My MIL has apparently been dropping some hints :) I told her I don't want to bum it, I'll more than gladly give him something for it, I just don't want to see something happen to that thing whenever he does pass away... who knows...

It would be sweet if you could get it before something else happens with it. If your like me you've waited this long a little bit longer doesn't matter.:beer2: I've been waiting 18 yrs for my wifes uncle to part with one of his cubs. Now he wants to sell it to me but he wants to go out and buy an off topic tractor and the family isn't to happy about it. So the waiting game begins again.:bash2::biggrin2:

So when is the new cub shop being built in the back?:biggrin2:

juniors1282 05-26-2011 04:31 PM

Mike has been doing inventory at work today so he's been off the puter. I talked to him a little bit ago but just for a second. I'll get a hold of him later and let him know your headed this way. He lives about a mile off of 79, you can see 79 from his house. I could meet you over there, I live about 10 miles from 79. What time do you think you'll be coming through tomorrow?

Cubcrazy 05-26-2011 10:40 PM

And let me tell you, inventory stinks!!!

Hopefully we can meet at my place tomorrow.
I asked Gary to call me when he gets into PA too Eric. I'm guessing if he leave around 5:30 he should be around my place around 12-12:30.

gcbailey 05-26-2011 10:43 PM

Got the numbers wrote down!!! Gonna be a fun day tomorrow. And my wife just shakes her head :) I told her at least I'm going on the Internet and meeting other guys, not women!!! :biggrin2:

True very true. My wife's the same way. Says why not just ship the part's then you wouldn't have to drive over there and meet him. I said where's the fun in that. Plus it's always nice to meet other cub nuts in person!!

Well he made it this far. We had a great time for all the longer he was hear. We met at Mike's house, think he was a little surprised at Mike's collection.

Jeff your parts are in good hands, and on their way.

It was very nice meetng you and your family Gary, tell your boys I enjoyed looking at tractors with them and next time your up this way you have to come by my place and we'll take some of mine for a ride. Have fun with the rest of your trip and good luck with the 149.

Here's a picture that Gary's wife was nice enough to take before they left for Niagara. I'm on the left Mike's the funny looking guy in the middle and Gary's on the right. Another cool cub day, and another great picture to ad to the album.

Cubcrazy 05-27-2011 06:22 PM

Yeah, had a great time today meeting Gary and his family! Glad we could meet up today with you guys!
Next time you come up this way Gary you have to stay longer!
We definitely didn't get to spend enough time talking about tractors!

Anxious to see if you get the 149!

"Funny looking guy" Eric??! lol

ACecil 05-27-2011 06:23 PM

That's a great pic, Eric!

TEET 05-28-2011 05:31 PM

Well....I had a awesome visit from Gary, his wife and 2 boys today! We chatted about cubs while his oldest took the little 90cc 4 wheeler for a spin around the yard. I wish we could have shot the bull a little longer, but it was a busy day all around! Congrats on your "new" 73, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks to Gary and Eric as well for hooking up yesterday so I could get some parts for my O from Eric. Thoughtful guys, through and through!

I'm pretty much dead right now. But it really was a good trip. I've been telling all my family about the cub "mecca" or "nirvana" whatever it is Mike has going there. You guys have to remember where I live. Before going to Mike's the only IH Cubs I had ever saw in person was an O, 127, 149, and Sof76. So now I can mark off seeing about all of them! So let's see I want a WF/QL/82 with hydro lift and front ports!!! Ha! It is really cool to meet guys face to face. So in less than a month I've met: Duke, Jude, Jeff, Eric and Mike!!! Woo!!!! And I've still got my wife's blessing for some more! Just nothing on Mike's scale.

We did come back down through whatever part of PA Williamsport, Harrisburg is in on our way to Martinsburg, WV to see my wife's grandpa at the VA hospital. He told me that the 149 is a tractor I need, so I guess that was his blessing. Now I just have to get it!

I'll post pics tomorrow... too tired tonight.

ACecil 05-29-2011 11:50 PM

Glad you and your family got home safe, Gary! Looking forward to your pics! :beerchug:

I thought seeing Mike was the mecca and not his cubs.:bigthink: It was great meeting you as well. You did as many miles as Jude did.

I'm glad you got his blessing on the 149! July 4th is another long weekend!:biggrin2:

gcbailey 05-30-2011 10:12 AM

Oh ya, forgot to mention how Eric jinxed me! :) All his talk about what has been happening to his truck.... We were coming into Williamsport and all of a sudden this awful metallic rattling sound, first thoughts going down the interstate "oh crap!" Got pulled off the road and a tail pipe was flopping loose. Luckily I had a socket set and got it off and tossed in the back and wouldn't you know it about 60 miles later the other side falls off! Now I'm also hearing rubbing whenever I turn my wheels rear sharp one side or another. I just glanced last night and couldn't see anything that looks like it would hit the tires, so gonna have to check that out today too.

Duke, I'm pretty excited about the 149. I'm hoping I can get the Spirit of '76 too that he has.

I gotta mow with the 73 today too!!

Sorry bud, the good news is after all I had to do to the old girl this week she ran up there yesterday and never missed a beat!! Only 500 miles to go and she'll roll 300,000, :biggrin2:.

I think you should just run down to the dealer and trade it in on a big truck, you can fit alot more cubs and parts in an 8' bed, hehehe!

don't worry, I made that clear a couple years ago that I'm moving up. Dad has a 3/4 ton and the FIL has a 1 ton dually. I can't believe what these guys are doing around here with these diesels and mod chips fuel wise. My wife has a scoobyru and it's hard for all 4 of us to ride in it now with the kids small. So I'm thinking crew cab long bed! :)
