AJ, you were about 13 minutes from my house when you took those pics and about 2 min from my folks. I live down 601 in Midland. Anyways, that man there selling those tractors, Bob is his name, is about as crazy :beer2: as they come when it comes to pricing things. Now, even though I want to, I just always keep going past his place, knowing good and well he will be off his rocker with a price.

Nice pics though!

Then again, now that I re-read your post, the tractor you went to get but didnt seems to be priced pretty fair. I dont know, maybe he just doesnt like me.

can't believe Im saying this, but the sears impressed me most after the 982.

CC1450 06-23-2011 07:54 PM

that 982 is sharp!

those old sears are pretty cool. My friend has a few at his place he is playing with. One has a giant onan twin cylinder engine.

Sears actually made a garden tractor in the late 70's with the 19.9hp Onan, same motor in the 982. I used to have a Craftsman lawn tractor so I started reading a Sears/Craftsman forum and still read it regularly, they definitely made some cool tractors, though I am still loyal to the Cubs. I'd like to pick up a 50's David Bradley garden tractor, they're the predecessors of the Sears garden tractors. They're pretty bare bones but they have a hand clutch which I think is pretty neat.

it was a while back with the 102 over christmas, its funny it was before i new about this place and was like man that's an old tractor, and he said it would need a clutch in a few depending on how i used it. I talked my self out of it LOL duh... wished i'd known how easy it was to get some parts!!!
