What did you do with your Cub Today?
Just like on the old forum
|
I took the fender pan off the 127 to get to the release valves. The forward valve wasn't wanting to pop up all the way. Reverse wouldn't go down. I had to heat the slotted pan head screws to get them out. Went to start it up and not enough juice in the battery to get it going. It's charging tonight.
|
I tried starting my 109 and couldn't get it to catch. Sputtered a few times thats it. Time to get the tools out.....
|
I picked up some wheel weights for the 782 and cleaned them up good, primed and painted them. I'll install them tomorrow.
|
Digging up the ash stumps. I had two ash die from blight. Dug the first out by hand. It was just too much. Used a Cub 7265 for the second one. That was still pretty tough getting it out.

You have a super fine Super Cub there !!! You also know how to tweak the plow to make it work. Fine job sir. Plus you have your son with you ! Life couldn't be better !
|
Great pics guys! Thanks for sharing.
|
I put the mower deck back on the 126 and also did a little tillin' with the 1650. May plant some stuff tomorrow!

I got the 127 rolling again in both directions. The hydro release valves were a little iffy. Forward was really slow, but reverse was fine. Swapped the valves and messed with the release buttons a little. Got one button to where it wouldn't come back up. Took a valve from a 125 roller I have and cleaned it up. I put it in late last night, but couldn't fire it up to see if it worked until lunch today. Yaayyy, moves in both directions quick and easy. Put the new seat on Sunday, but hadn't got to sit in it until today.
The last pic is when I brought it home. Crappy metal universal seat pan had to go! Got the new seat on clearance at Lowes, just had to punch and tap some holes in the seat pan to install. I like it so far. |
Looks like you made some nice progress Keith!

Pulled the head off to take care of a little oil leak. :)
Just some minor stuff. Should be good to go tomorrow. |
klejeune;
I can not believe that you didn't like that pan seat, what with the "competition" wooden mounting bracket and all! Nice looking replacement seat, just curious, how much did you have to give for it? |
It was on clearance at Lowes for $44. I went to 2 stores and got 1 at each store. Nearest with any more was in Mt. Home, AR. Hey Dr. Bailey, up for a road trip? I wasn't...

OK, I cut and hauled three loads of Tiger grass today. This stuff is beautiful but a real handful if left stand all winter. [My wife thinks it looks pretty]. Also for those that may have never got to hear a 982 idle, here is a link to a video I shot this morning. That's Meg with her ball.

I've never heard an Onan idle before. That was pretty cool. Lopes right along deep and throaty, I like it!
|
Used the 106 to haul some truck parts to put into on of the trailers out back. She had quite a load on her with 8 semi brake drums, and two air tanks.:Kohler1:

Great vid and pics Eagle Keeper! Your 982 sounds awesome.

They do have a sound all their own. Scott |
I plowed up my garden and then ran my tiller over it. I'll get some photos of the tractors when I get a chance...the only downside was that the end plate that I welded on isn't holding up too hot on one side (but that's because of my less than stellar welding skills). The upshot is that the new tines did a great job, and it was fun having the 1250 to run the tiller and the 73 to pull the plow...no more switching up like last year (73 did all of the work). Jason
Wild Bill: I liked your photos...gotta convince my wife that I need action shots too! |
Great action pics Bill! Looks like you had a great time.
|
Nice pics! that 1450 is sharp!

Messed with trying to start the cub since last week. Had spark, cleaned the points, fuel smell in the bore. Cleaned the SP and regapped. Blast of ether, she no start. For the heck of it, bought a new SP, put it in today.....she fired right up like always. I was all ready to tear into it, but not necessary....so I mounted my carry all and am ready to spread some lime. Some times you get lucky!:beerchug:

Just came in, after hauling limbs from the severe weather, we had over the weekend. Sorry, no pics this time.

Well after a long winters nap I decided to fix the #2 123's S.G. Sanded down the commutator cleaned it up and put some new used good brushes in it!! Went to start it and it was chugging along faster than it has in a while but no start,Helps if you put gas in !! I drained it last summmer when the starter generator decided to quit.
I lubed up the lube points checked the fluids and drug 3 2 foot sections of rail around the back for about an hour chargeing up the battery and getting everything good and warm.It unfortunatly hasnt ran all winter so this is my first cub time in months!! I hooked up the tiller and fooled around in the garden for a couple hours.I paied the kids a penny a rock they through out!! http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/w...dro/garden.jpg http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/w...23wtiller2.jpg http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/w...123wtiller.jpg |
Darrell,
Now thats a new twist to an old problem. What a great idea! I like your thinkin. |
Nice 123 Jason!
|
hopscotch circles on the cement pad. lol. nice 123 and tiller! whats that dune buggy got in it for power? (srry I just gotta ask). It must suck to not have acres and acres to play around in... (we got like 700 acres around our house to play with the cubs!!!) Goo to hear that you got some cub time!!!
|
Well I decided to get all but one of my cubs out and let mother nature wash the dust off of them from their long winter nap.

Great pic Lonny!
|
Tyler,
the dune buggy is a hunk of junk and would make a great boat anchor. It has a 250cc engine that has one problem after another, bad cdi, replaced, bad coil replaced........now its on its third trip down and i haven't checked it out yet but the kids are itching to get it going.I have 2 acres but in the middle picture, behind that fence line is thousands of acres of national/blm land, granted i cant plant it but if i was itching i sure would take a plow out there and drag it around!!JK But it is great for motorcycle riding, goggle Rainbow basin, seriously or owl canyon that place is a fossil bed about a mile out behind my back yard Back on topic Lonny I wish i could let mother nature wash my cub but it would get sand blasted before that!!! nice heard you have there. |
Today I installed a set of wheel weights that I just picked up on the 125. I traded a seat spring for a farmall M from one of my parts tractors for a set of rear weights that I think are for a wheelhorse? they are very heavy 50# each?? they didn't have the cut outs for the valve stem so I mounted them on the inside. Also got the plow out and set up for the upcoming plow day.
|
john k, Way to go tradeing for the wheel weights  Sound like nice ones.
|
Thanks Diz jr, I try to trade for things if I can . Sometimes it's parts or I trade carpentry work. I like to play with my tractors without much out of pocket expense.
|
Well it turns out the 1650 I bought for $100 has a K321 in it. I noticed it was shaking pretty bad and discovered that the PO only had two engine mounts bolts in it. Last night I pulled the engine, one bolt was busted off in the pan but I was able to remove with an easy out. I pulled the head and spent most of the evening warming up parts in the oven and de-carbing with Easy Off. I will need to tap new thread int he carb body. The PO used a sheet metal screw to mount the air celaner box because he was too lazy to do the job right. The hydro lift lever is still immovable, the piston in the cylinder is really in there tight. Gotta give the PB blaster one more try and them maybe some love taps with a small hammer to free it up. The frame had at one time been painter red, but htis is definately a wide frame and not a spread frame. That's kind of a mystery. Updates to come.
