New toy for the BRS..

Went and picked up the plow Adrian had with the 982D and his 782. I figured I would get a pic of it on the Smoker, then decided I would try it out for one row, then as things with Cubs usually do I just kept going and ended up turning over the garden spot for the fall. It was a bit wet, but nothing the diesel couldn't handle at a bit over half throttle. Best part is, I didn't even have to set up the plow, it was already set :biggrin2:

I have some pics and a video listed below. Has been a very good day.

Thank you, that was the most fun I have had in a few days... :beerchug:

CHWNY 11-19-2011 05:59 PM

Great video DWayne I need me one of them supers. I will just have to settle for my 680 "Sub-Super"

_DX3_ 11-19-2011 06:10 PM

When are we going to get some plowing pics with that 680?? :bigthink:

lukeott 11-19-2011 06:40 PM

Sweet Ride

DWayne
That 982D is sweet. Glad to see you use it. The dirt washes off and a little wax will make her purtty again.

:biggrin2: It's got so many layers of wax right now I'll need a scraper to remove it. I was able to get the tires cleaned up a bit before quitting for the day. She usually stays pretty spotless and sleeps in a sheet but I don't mind getting them dirty. :beerchug:

_DX3_ 11-19-2011 06:57 PM

That sounds good. I may try to find a 54" blade sometime for the Smoker. But may try to get a rear box blade from Xtrememotorworks.com to keep my drive worked up real good.

juniors1282 11-19-2011 06:59 PM

Looks great with some mud on the tire's DWayne. Plow looks awsome behind the 982D

One can't whip anything up if you don't have the ingredients and tools. :biggrin2:

I heard the wife saw you out there cleaning the BRS again and got mad because you spend more time with the BRS then her!:biggrin2:

_DX3_ 11-19-2011 08:51 PM

Ha, it's that I spend more time with BRS than cleaning the dishes... LOL

Enjoyed the pics and vid, DWayne! When can I come up, and plow a furrow? :biggrin2:

I suggest spring as I don't think you will like our cold wet weather right now, LOL. But anytime you are welcome to come plow.

They have been weeded out over the years. But if I had moved 5 feet further to the right you would have seen slate rock plowing up all over the time. :biggrin2:

Come to PA and we can show you some rocks and loads of very large lime stone's. :biggrin2:

_DX3_ 11-20-2011 08:32 PM

:bigthink: Nope gonna pass on that offer, :biggrin2: I like my plow share just the way it is.

Mountain Heritage 11-21-2011 07:59 PM

Looks great Dwayne! Yep, I am jellous! The new attachment looks great. Adrian did a great job on restoring it as well. I honestly don't know how he can look at them pictures and that video without bringing a tear to his eye. His baby, his Creation!
:Cry1: :crap:

Bet he misses them!

I have to say thats one awesome rig and plow combo. Really jealous. It looks great.

I also have a question. Isnt it better to always run the throttle wide open to allow maximum flow to the pump or does it make any difference? Im asking because thats what Ive always been told, but if I dont need all the throttle, and can save a little on the fuel, id be happy to wind her down a bit.
Thanks

_DX3_ 11-23-2011 03:55 PM

I didn't hear or feel any difference in hydraulic performance at that engine speed compared to full throttle. I was basing the throttle off of what Adrian told me he ran it at when plowing.

Matt G. 11-23-2011 05:55 PM

The cooling airflow for both the engine and trans is directly proportional to the engine speed, so with the load remaining constant, it should run cooler at full throttle.

_DX3_ 11-23-2011 06:10 PM

This is the coolest running diesel I have seen or heard about. On the gauge it will maintain right at the first mark from the left, until the debris screen on the radiator gets filled with Chaff, then it starts to creep up about the halfway mark or a bit more. I could see the trans maybe needing more cooling under a good load, but this thing never grunted with the plow and maintained a nice even RPM. But next time around I will try at full throttle, just seemed a bit overkill is all I was thinking. :bigthink:

Iluvtruks0 11-23-2011 11:20 PM

That may be what I was thinking about Matt...not really positive on the ol memory though.

Let us know what you think next time round DWayne

I've got my brother in law's garden to plow up. About three times the size of mine. Will advise once I get it finished. Just hoping for some decent warm weather to plow in but got more rain coming for the rest of the weekend. :bash2:
