This is real cub abuse.
 

Just picked this old girl up yesterday off of a farmer up the road. This is probably the worst case of cub abuse I have ever seen. It seems to run alright but the PO removed the cooling fan to install a block heater in the upper soft plug spot. So I have no idea how many times it has been overheated. Has one regular size GT tire and one super tire on the other side. Clutch pedal will not go down frozen up with cow dung. Not sure whats in store for this old girl. Here she is in all her glory.

I Knew some "Farmer's" in my day's and NONE would do that even to a push mower!!! Thats a shame! You are so kind to title the P.O. a farmer. Glad to see it RESCUED,Good Job!

Well he is a farmer for real. What I do not understand is every other piece of machinery on that farm is meticulously maintained except for the cub. His farm is classified as a Dairy of Distinction. The upper crud in the farming world. But then again all the equipment on his farm happen to be Fords.

Good thing it's a cub a lesser machine would have gave out the first time it got over heated! Looking forward to the rescue updates!

Mine was not quite. That bad but not too much better. It was owned by aguy who worked construction and just plain beat the tractor. I'm still going through it. I attended college in cortland, small world.

You did good Kelly. That's one of the hardest diesel models to find. Lots of potential there. Is there a rear pto behind that 3 point?

Oak no PTO just the cover. Actually the 1772 is the hardest one to find. It was only produced one year. Notice she is set up like a sprint car with one tall tire and a short one.LOL Definatley set up to make hard rights.

With the blade angled in the correct direction the different size tire offsets the "blade push". :bigthink:

I've seen Much worse, it can fix with a little work. Wish I could get that lucky, glad you saved it before he sold it for scrap or something.

Thanks for the rescue there cubs-n-bxrs, I just can't stand to see a Cub (any Cub, old or newer) look like that. :beerchug:

Lets not turn this into a for sale/wanted ad. Any parts wanted or selling need to be done in the porper sections of the site.

Nice find on your 1572.Looks like it came with a snow plow.Is it a power angle?
How many hours does the motor have on it?They always seem to be missing the side panels.Looks like it won't need much to get it back in presentable shape.

Lew it is a power angle but the cylinder was removed and a piece of angle iron was welded in. Guess he didnt want it to move. Motor has about 1050 hrs on it. Wiring harness is a shambles and I dont even know why it starts and runs. The fender tin is beat beyond repair and like wise with the hood. Pics make it look in better shape than it really is. I have the side panels and they are in nice shape and I also have the grill which is in really nice shape. I am not sure what the fate of this old girl is yet. Ray W wants it real bad. I would keep it.With the low hours on it ,you could gather enough parts for it to make it part of your den,cub den that is...You know what Ray will do to it...

You may be surprised at that Kubota engine. If he removed the cooling fan to install a block heater, maybe he only ran it to move snow. If that was the case, as long as the water pump was running, it may not have ever overheated. The outside air temp would keep the radiator fluid cool enough to keep the engine temps in range. Those Kubota engines are tough! Good luck!

I would bet it only moved manure, a common "unitasker" application of Cub Cadets.

Pushin' a blade is a job for a 10hp gas engine, the diesel did not know it was doing anything!!

How long will a diesel run without a load without needing a fan??:bigthink:

50 yr ago I drove race cars at a place called blodget mills, good luck with the rescue, probly was a barn cleaner, sad to say, dairy farmers are like that,it's got to handel/cut hay or else! LOL
