New "Little" IH 1066
12 Attachment(s)
Hi all, it' been 5 weeks in the process, but here's the newest "little" tractor. This makes 10 so far, and there aren't any duplicates yet...
This tractor is based on a late '60's Cub Cadet 124. The whole front end is steel, the side hood panels are aluminum with a steel panel in the center. Take a look at the website for more picts... www.TheLittleTractorCo.blogspot.com Kurt |
 Great Job on the 1066!!!
Ok im offically putting in a order for a mini Farmall 460! :beerchug: |
Kurt, that is awesome! Reminds me of my grandpa's 1066! Thanks for sharing.
|
Bad A$$! Awesome work.
|
Kurt that mini 1066 is wicked bad a$$. 66 series are the sharpest IH's built bar none. Awesome job. Kurt you really need to build a mini 1206 Wheatland now.
|
THAT is just about as cool as they get!
Great job! |
...actually a 1206 Wheatland diesel is next up. It's going to be a beast, complete with an accurate swinging drawbar. The rear tires are 15 inches wide, up from the standard 8 inches I've used so far.
It'll be about 1-2 months before it's done. Kurt |
Kurt let me just wipe the drool off of my chin. LOL
|
What size tires do you use in back ?
|
ksmith
Once again i am amazed at the work you do :Bowdown2: |
Must be the coolest rebuild i've ever seen !!!!!!
NICE:Pray: |
I need to make a little IH 484,so I can have a big and lttle one.
|
Great fab work!!!

Kurt,
I cant imagine how you can do one of these in 2 months! Took me 4-5 months to do a std Cub:) Great job on getting the scale right. How do you build the rear wheels? Spokes? I am going back to review your information. As others have said, Amazing work! Thanks for posting the pictures as you progressed from a std cub to this custom machine! Regards, Chris |
looks great cant wait to see 1206 :biggrin2:
|
Thanks again everyone.
I use 16 inch x 8 inch wide rims on the rear, the tires stand 31 inches tall. You need to remember, I'm working 30-50 hours a week on these tractors. They are "technically" my "job" if you want to call it that. I get to have fun building other people's toys... now if I could only come up with a "duplicating machine" so I could keep a copy for my self... :bigthink: The rear rims are standard implement rims. I have "hub extensions" made to widen the track, and change the bolt pattern. Kurt |
 Great job as usual! Still enjoy admiring your work every time I see. Such tallent! :beerchug:
|
Kurt,
Heck I think I was working 30-50 hours part time per week on my 147 this summer:) Thanks for the info on the rims. I would love to build something like one of these, and you may just give me the inspiration to do it! Do you prefer std shift or the hydro version? Looks like most are Hydros?? How much engine work do you do? Complete rebuild on the engine too? Sorry for all the questions but this stuff is really neat and you do a great job. Checked out your web site/blog. Very nice too! Regards, Chris |
That is awesome! WOW! have your ever thought of taking a 982 and building a 5088 ? That 1066 is very cool!

Man these things are sweet!!! I can't wait to see the 1206 wheatland. Hae you ever thought about making older letter series? A W9 would be awesome!
|
wow that is sweet. ive spent many hours behind a 1066 and even though im a John Deere man, it was a sweet sounding machine. let me ask you, what do you use for rear tires and rims? and do they directly bolt onto the stock cub cadet hubs or do you have to make custom hubs for it? it looks awesome. id love to have one.

Thanks guy's. I have thought about an 88 series tractor. I've actually drawn up plans for someone, but they didn't have me build one. The '82 series would make a nice '88 series, but a scratch built one would be more accurate.
Attached shows how I mount the rear wheel. I use 16" x 8" implement rims and make "hub extensions" to mount them. Kurt |
Looks great! Love the taller rear tires.
|
Awesome work as always Kurt! I've spent many hours on a 1066 working ground and baking in the sun. Dad sold it several years ago and I still miss that tractor.
|
Thats awesome:beer2:
I still don`t see how something so small looks so big.:biggrin2: |
I love these little tractors.
When I got my Yellow 782, I originally planned on painting it to look like a 560. You took it way past the next level Awesome! |
ksmith, do you remake implements to go on your recreations as well? it would be interesting to see some oversized tillers, and belly graders, and snowblowers, and............
|
weres the 2+2's now those would be cool to see.:biggrin2:
|
That would be cool, Donovan!
|
that thing is awesome!!!!!! :beerchug::bigeyes:
|
Did you make those weights or where did you get them?
How much do they weigh? |
Adam, these are the weights I use...
http://www.mcssl.com/store/midwestsu...m-fake-weight- For the outside weight, I grind the name off the weight, bondo it smooth, prime and paint, and apply a vinyl logo in the center to finish it. I use the aluminum weights to save on shipping, (they also have iron weights) and I assume they are easier to "mill" with a grinder... I bolt all of the weights together, and mount them to the weight rack so they don't move, (and scape the paint job up.) |
The link is bad....!!!
|
Sorry about that... this one should work.

Allen that would be awsome. we use to have a couple of 2+2's on our farm.
