Too pretty to use now. NICE WORK

NICE job!!! Look forward to seeing the before pictures. You have a deck for it too? I will be the one to throw sand in your face though.... :biggrin2: Your lights are installed on a 45 degree angle (the little lines and squares within the lense), they should be installed horizontal. Since you did such a good job on the rest of the tractor, it would be a shame to not make it perfect! :beerchug:

Hope to have a "new" looking 782 someday in my garage!

Dave01 01-25-2012 08:09 AM

Just so I can learn - what gives away that it's a 782 vs. another x-82?

Nice looking tractor, looks like you really took some care with the restoration.

Cubcrazy 01-25-2012 08:11 AM

There is no implement lift handle.

Dave01 01-25-2012 08:17 AM

So the 782 is the only x-82 that isn't a super and has hydro lift?

An 882 wouldn't have it either but those are yellow and white. The 782's can be red or yellow.

:Welcome2:

I need to find a powdercoater in my area! Awesome work! Looking forward to your updates.

We have at least 2 powdercoaters in the Roanoke area, the results look so good I might have to try one!!

Nice job on the Cub! Looks better than new. Can't wait to see the before pics as well. Powder coating sure looks great. The 782 would be the only red, nonsuper from the factory with hydraulic lift. Some 682's have had a hydraulic lift added to them so it could be a 682 with hydraulic lift added on. Ya know, I just had to mess with everyone :biggrin2::beerchug:.

Iowa Farmboy 01-25-2012 07:08 PM

What do you have to do to prep the sheet metal for powder coat? Do you need to take it to bare metal? If you need to use a filler material like a polyester or bondo will it still work to be coated?

lowes48 01-26-2012 03:50 PM

Looks great but we need more pictures!

robpa 01-26-2012 05:22 PM

the guy who is gonna powder my 126 said he will blast it, prime it and powder it. He said they use a really good primer?? $250(estimate) for the whole thing, broke down. Im gonna figure $300 tho.

Is that a local guy?:bigthink:

Oak 01-26-2012 08:08 PM

That seems like a great price for him to prep and finish it.

robpa 01-26-2012 09:27 PM

hes about 6 miles from me. I think its a great price. Right around the corner from him is another painter/blaster operation, not a powder coat guy..

had this 782 for around 23yrs.. it came with the hydraulic deck. and it was originally red. i have 2 50" decks one not so good and one i just bought for 75.00 whicj is in real good shape no rust. just they have hit a few things with the deck up front.. not bad though. thinking about purchasing a new deck from cub, just hoping it is the same design and thickness. theses baby's cut awsome.. I will post more pix of before just have to dig them out or rather find them.. it was a oily mess.. powder coating cost me around 600.00 ..the guy that said my headlights was in at a 45 degree that is how the holes was in the grill would have to make new holes to straighten up.

i was thinking about putting this baby in the frame.. but i figured i would have to beef up thr front in a LITTLE... this is a V-20 clark

Methos 01-27-2012 09:20 AM

Holy batman! That's quite the change! Great to see a long time owner too! That V-20 is huge!

Dave01 01-27-2012 10:57 AM

What a great job you did on that tractor! What HP Honda did you put in it?

I'd hold off on buying a new deck, not even sure they exist. There are a lot of 50" decks around, and looking at the work you did on the tractor I'd think you'd make quick work of a deck rebuild.

ACecil 01-27-2012 12:44 PM

The frame would definitely need some beefing up...lol! :biggrin2:

dieseldan123 01-27-2012 06:31 PM

OMG! V-20 is amazing!

Great job on the 782! Liking the repower you dropped in it and i agree lookes like the PO about broke every hydro and oil line in that thing at some point and didnt care to clean it up. Although i cant say much, my 123 was just as grimy when i got it home but the paint had a great shine to it when it was cleaned up! :beerchug:

hardknocks 03-03-2012 12:53 AM

new deck

i just purchased a new deck for this 782. its yellow out of box , but went straight to the powder coat shop to get apoxied and powder coated to match original color.

Methos 03-03-2012 01:39 AM

Nothing like having a new shell! I had to get my sun glasses due to the shine off it!

Hey, don't go making any excuses for that Vanny, she's a beaut - love those Vanguards.....

That sure was a dirty tractor but it looks really good now. You got to love that powder coat. I just finished putting a Vanguard in my 782. ( SMOOTH ) On your head lights you can just switch sides ,meaning right to left and vise versa. When you switch sides you'll have to rotate them 45*. I had the same thing when I put mine back together after repower and paint. I knew they weren't that way before. Besides looking weird the lights won't throw the light right. You've done an awesome job getting her back to looking better than new. Owning something that long is like an old freind. Can't wait to see some pictures after you get the deck finished. Keep up the good work.
