Cub Cadet 108 Restore!
Hey guys and gals i just bought my first tractor at the age of 16 for work but it needs work.
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/P5270132.jpg Not everything will be original and the right parts. My plans are: *Kabota Deck Modded to work (because my 108 deck is rusted out) *All New Paint *New Decals *Agg tires in the rear *Kabota Seat *Possible Kabota Steering Wheel *anything thing else anyone thinks I should add feel free to post. DAY 1 I got it in the garage and it was stuck between two gears and wouldnt move http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/P5290143.jpg Started to strip it http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/P5290141.jpg And then started to prep for paint http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/P5290142.jpg Not to bad for a first day. |
Not bad at all for the first day............Keep at it and it will come together. Keep up with the pictures, also. It is nice to watch the progress.
|

Well I was going to do it cream but...
Single stage white was free so I'm using it and I already had some yellow too. Should be done later today or tomorrow and then I need to sandblast te frame and rear |
hey im 14 and have 4 cubs.
|
Great job. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
|
Well my dad is hopefully painting some parts for me today. In going to buy a sand blasting hood this weekend so I can finish prepping my parts
|
well got an update but no pictures yet. maybe tomorrow. I got my sand and my hood total cost was 45 bucks. So now ive only got around 300 in the tractor. its probably going to have around 400-450 when im all said and done. what do you think I could sell it for? I dont want to sell it after i finish but I want a bigger tractor. But for now all the white parts are sand blasted and im going to start on the frame tomorrow. maybe get the engine cover done monday after i get the right puller. By the way I found a mouse nest in my engine. No dead mice though.
|
well havent gotten a whole lot done with work and everthing but here is how it stands now
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/638df60f.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/0d4e4cc5.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/f3f26f95.jpg i know the white isnt right and i dont think the yellow is either but it was free |
Looks nice! Thanks for the pics.
|
Great job on the paint and free is a great price! :biggrin2: Heres a tip to remove the paint from the tires. Go to a Lowe's or HD or any hardware store and pick up a bottle of some stuff call Goof Off. Take that and put it on a rag and wipe it down. Gets the tires nice and clean and takes any gunk off that might be on it too. And if you should do another one take the tires and deflate them till you can almost break the bead and take masking tape and mask off around the rim. That way you dont have to take the tire off and worry about the tire guys scratching the new paint and keeps the paint from getting on the tires. :beerchug: Just thought it would be a helpful hint!
|
well i think im getting some agg tires for free and i should get all four. Also the seat is really bad and i think im getting a free seat also haha. My work had a kubota break down and they just bought 3 new john deeres to replace the kubotas so i should get any parts i want.
Todays progress http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/8c06063a.jpg I got right to work when i got my parts home and i had many of extra nut and bolts :bigthink: http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/11f005d7.jpg |

Welp i did alot of work in the garage today and it finally runs!!!
I got some marker lights at walmart to use as tail lights http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...BFFD8034AF.jpg Then got some headlights there too http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...C0053B3856.jpg Next was to paint the gas tank that i forgot to paint. I bought some krylon fusion paint and did a quick spray http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...C0158A5C54.jpg Got it all put in and running but my hood doesnt open right so i had to make this hood prop out of all thread. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...C0298485ED.jpg Ill try and take a video of it running tomorrow. And anyone with a 108 can i see how youre headlights are mounted? I need some mounting ideas for mine |
Looking good, just out of curiosity why did you decline to paint the engine while you had it out? You've done a nice job, I believe that detail would have put you over the top...:IH Trusted Hand:

Well the truth is I just wanted to be done with it. The engine is going to come back out in a few days to tear apart the pto to fix it. I will clean it up with some degreaser and a pressure washer when i do it and see how it looks. Also i am out of yellow paint and Im trying to not spend alot of time or money on this build which i know sounds bad but Im 16 and its hard to focus on a project like this. also im a really bad painter and mechanic. My dad did the paint and helped me with the wiring. And get it running.
But for today the coil fried so It will wait till morning to go get a coil from work and throw it on and get it running. |
Well I got the igniton coil my dad had at work and hooked it up with a new key switch (old one was shot). Still not getting any spark. New spark plug and still notta thing. I need a new coil but Im cheap so for now its just getting a few things here and there until I get a new coil.
Todays progress New headlights put in. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...D410457768.jpg |
Thanks for the update and pic!
|
I don't think you're a bad painter or mechanic or you wouldn't be working on an old Cub. You're doing just fine.
:beerchug: |
Looks pretty good! I too have a 108 and love it! Just dont have any lights in the light panel as mine are frame mounted. Im liking the look of the lights you have :beerchug: Fit the panel pretty snug. Keep up the progress!
|
Looks good man!!:beerchug:
|
