Eric and I are going to look at another tractor. Since I posted it here it only gives a hint and until Sat that is all it is. You all will just have to wait till Saturday for any more info. We have a plan for this acquisition and will reveal all if the buy goes through. I am excited about this one.

Hope you guys get it Paul!:beerchug:

PaulS 01-30-2013 11:57 AM

We have another acquisition on the way too. When we go get it we are planning a stop by at your location. I believe Eric has been in touch about a mower. This possible acquisition is just about as far as the other but without a really good highway to get there. I understand you are on our way west so we will be in contact when that date is confirmed.

ACecil 01-30-2013 01:14 PM

Looking forward to your acquisition, Paul!

PaulS 02-01-2013 08:59 AM

Eric got in touch with the owner and we have first dibs on this one. We are getting more excited each day. If this one works out it will come home with us and will become a "special duty" machine. I will explain what that means when we get it home. "Are we there yet!!!"

Methos 02-01-2013 10:48 AM

Paul I'm looking forward to your pics!

Where's the other one coming from?:biggrin2:

Sorry Duke, my Dad won't let me say,BUT the guy (from what I hear) is a little :ScrewLoose:. :ROTF2:

Well it may have to wait till Sunday to come home as the guy won't be there till then so the acquisition continues. More at 11.00 lol.

EricR 02-03-2013 09:30 PM

Well it finally all came together today. Picked up the trailer and off to Genesee Pa we went. Talk about snow covered roads and not an easy way to get there but it all worked out in the end, so the (72) is at it's resting place. Thank you Mark for the tractor.

The 72 is repowered with a ch18 and it has a few leaks but it will all get fixed in the end and will become my new woods tractor. And as you see it has a 451 blower and a 60 inch haban deck that is still in the back of my truck till tomarrow. LOL.

PaulS 02-03-2013 10:10 PM

Eric forgot to mention it has a cat O on the back too. It has just enough rust so that we will not have to camo it for a woods tractor. As Eric said it has a few issues but runs well and dang it followed us home. It looked a bit slushy till we got it here but the borrowed trailer was much worse and Eric's truck was literally plastered with salty slush. Ma nature was not kind to us today and we had to travel over many snow covered mountain roads to get there and just as many to get back.

ACecil 02-03-2013 10:11 PM

Congrats on the 2072!

PaulS 02-03-2013 10:16 PM

I thought you would like it. We think we can make a couple of pieces to convert it into our tree hauling, deer pulling, food plot working rig.

Cubcrazy 02-03-2013 10:46 PM

Congrats on the 2072 Eric and Paul!
That was a pretty good deal!:beerchug:

The super will do that with no problems, Paul.

PaulS 02-04-2013 09:07 AM

We knew that this one would do the job, remember we already have a 2084 and a 2086. Man we are quickly running out of shed space. What a nice problem to have.

red56turbo 02-04-2013 10:41 AM

Nice pickup on the super! The three point is the icing on the cake. Congrats! Nothing like a cub run on snowy/icy roads. Glad you guys made it home safe. :beerchug:

Methos 02-04-2013 12:59 PM

Glad you two made it home safe with that sweet 2072!:beerchug: Better be finding more room spring is coming.:biggrin2:

PaulS 02-04-2013 05:19 PM

Not to worry Duke we will find room. Now lets see. Sell the wife's car ah no. Oh well will figure something out.

Sam Mac 02-04-2013 06:48 PM

I think it's good that I don't live in the PA MD area or I would need a bigger shop. :biggrin2:

Same here, Sam. :biggrin2:

EricR 02-05-2013 09:57 PM

I am already out of room BUT will not quit till the end, LOL.

Thanks guys this will be a work in progress for a while.

PaulS 03-11-2013 04:10 PM

Just to bump this post up a little and an update. The 2072 was repowered with a 18 horse command and the drive line was just cobbled together. It worked but the engine was not mounted properly, no spacers under the engine and was not in its proper location. Looks like they had a drive shaft and made the engine fit the drive shaft. The rear coupler had one of the ears broken and we have been all over the net looking for another without luck. This morning I called Patton acres and he had one and even a cooling fan. They will be here this week. This is a big step toward getting this machine repowered. We do need to custom make a new drive shaft 2 inches longer than the one we have. We have a machinist lined up for that too. He is also a cub enthusiast so we are confidant in his abilities and he is not too far away. Finally some progress is being made. Whew.

Cubcrazy 03-11-2013 06:35 PM

Sounds like you guys are heading in the right direction Paul!:beerchug:

PaulS 03-11-2013 07:55 PM

We are getting there at least. We need to replace the hydro valves as one is leaking. We also have to look into the steering box as something is not right there too. At least once we get the driveshaft fixed it will no longer be just a roller. It truly is amazing what POs can do and it still works.

Hey Paul, When these cub's were new, I know that I couldn't afford to go out and buy one let alone a super! That being the case I for one thank GOD for previous owner's. Without them I wouldn't have this wonderful hobby and wouldn't had the chance to meet and have breakfast with you, and everyone else.

ACecil 03-11-2013 10:16 PM

You and Eric will get the 1872 in great shape again. :beerchug:

PaulS 03-11-2013 10:24 PM

You are right Bill my bone of contention is not with POs but POs that think they are Gods gift to a wrench.

Allen Yes we are getting there although a bit slower than we wanted. The drive shaft is going to the machinist tomorrow. He says he can't wait to get on the job. Yep it is coming together.

I understand Paul, everything I own I had to wrench on for one thing or another. You'll have that tractor together soon, Be patient! :bash2:

PaulS 03-14-2013 03:01 PM

A package came in the mail yesterday with a used but good rear drive shaft coupler and a fan for on the shaft. The machinist called and said our custom drive shaft is done. Eric will be bringing it home along with some "O" parts the machinist had. Oh yea lots to do but too cold to do it in an unheated shed. Have also been trying the electrolysis on parts and am very pleased with how that is turning out too. Life is good.

Sam Mac 03-14-2013 03:34 PM

You know the deal, pics or it didn't happen. :biggrin2:

Cubcrazy 03-14-2013 04:16 PM

That's good news Paul!
and like Sam said, Pics!:beerchug:

EricR 03-14-2013 06:31 PM

I don't have any pics yet but this weekend you all will see a few.

Glad you and Eric got your parts! Looking forward to your pics, Eric!

PaulS 03-15-2013 06:39 PM

The new drive shaft did not make it home last night so Eric is stopping by on his way home from work tonight to pick it up. We went from looking for parts to finding parts and waiting for parts to now having so many parts we are not sure where to start, which is so much better than the previous options.

Cubcrazy 03-15-2013 06:52 PM

Busy weekend ahead of you and Eric now!

PaulS 03-15-2013 09:41 PM

You are right on Mike time to break out the wrenches, bandaids, and some horse liniment. We will have to move the engine forward a bit to get the new shaft in but we only put two bolts in the support plate to get measurements so that should be easy enough. Busy weekend coming up for sure. Best part it is putting together instead of pulling apart.

I agree Paul. Alot better going back together then tearing apart!

This is usually where I ( Now where did I lay that thing at? ) or ( I was over here and I had it in my hand,) sure hope you don't have any of my issues! I know it's going to turn out real nice and Tyler will enjoy His Turn with it !

Methos 03-16-2013 12:11 PM

Paul and Eric have fun and get something done this weekend.:biggrin2: Looking forward to your progress!

PaulS 03-16-2013 12:16 PM

Right now things do not look good. It started snowing this morning and it is now noon and it is still snowing. The temps are around 32-33 which is too cold to paint. We can do some things but some just have to wait for yellow or white paint.
