Hi. I just got me an old cub the other day. The guy I bought from said he was a member on here but who knows, it was off Craigslist. He said he used to pull with it. I mainly bought it for the plow but got lucky that the guy had a mower deck for it also. It's a pretty nice tractor but I've got some work to do to it. It won't go into 2nd or 3rd and I don't have any brackets for the mower deck.

Welcome to the site. Great bunch of guys here. You have a really nice looking tractor. I have no idea why it won't go into 2nd or 3rd. I notice you have a length of chain to raise and lower the plow. Originally the plow was lifted by a rod with a 90 degree bend at each end and gives a little down pressure if needed to the blade. Does your tractor have the manual Power Take Off which is mounted to the front of the engine. If so I did notice the lever which is located on the right side of the steering tower where the bracket on yours is located is missing.

Thanks everyone. The duals are pretty cool. They're probably what sold me on the tractor. They're not really practical for the snow since they're wider than the plow but still looks cool. As for the chain it's whatever the previous owner has rigged up. He said the plow is supposed to be for a craftsman lawn tractor. The brackets were bent when I got it so I just straitened them out real quick so I could push snow. For as little as ill use the blade ill probably leave the chain on it. I'm not sure on the pto. I haven't really messed with it since I got it except tightening the belt so it would start. I also noticed that bracket on the side missing the lever. Like I said he used it for the mini tractor pulls so its kinda stripped down. I think I read somewhere on here the shifters are prone to coming apart somehow. I'll figure it out whenever I can get it pulled off. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to try and get the mower deck working or not. Parts seems to be hard to find without buying another complete tractor to part out.

I put the cub to work yesterday pushin snow and ran into trouble with it running bad. Ended up replacing the wire from the points to coil, coil to condenser and the end on the positive coil wire and it was back to normal. Brought it back home to do my driveway and couldn't get it to start. It has always cranked hard. Seems like fast timing to me but I did some reading and found it has a compression relief. So I gt the cover pulled off the side and found the springs weren't holding the weights in like they were supposed to. Put them back on and it cranks over like it should and fires right up. I guess it was running so good the belt decided to come apart. Oh well that's an easy fix. In glad I got everything else fixed.

Also I have almost acquired everything I need to get the mower deck operational. I'll put up some pics when I get to work on that.
