Well shes not a cub but i welcomed it into the shop and i think its going to earn its keep. Already rolled part of the yard with it. Its a 1985 case ingersoll 224 14hp kohler. Guy from work gave it to me along with a 44" deck and snow plow. It was his dads and beleive it or not he rolled it down a hill and into a crick. I got it non running but rewired it and it fired right up after a fuel bowl gasket also. Has a brand new carb on it too. Dont plan on this one leaving anytime soon:beerchug:

A friend of mine has a 222 case. It has a 301 in it. I ran it for a while and thought it was a decent tractor. I liked the hydraulic drive quit a bit and it had hi and low range too.

Congrats on the freebie! I looked into getting a case at one time.:beerchug:

Yes, congratulations on the new Ingersoll. Wow yes, free is the best price. :Woo:

You will love that mower deck, they really do a nice job following the lay of the lawn with those adjustable guide wheels.

Nice looking 224 Those are very nice for tilling too if you can round up the 3 point, hydro pto, and tiller for it. I have an '80 448 and its a real workhorse. I use it to pull oak trees up to the shed for firewood. I grab the end of a tree with the 3 point and drag the whole tree.

The Low Profile series Colt, Case and Ingersoll GTs (100, 200 and 300 series) didn't have 3 PT hitches available to them from the factory (they weren't available to the consumer until he/she moved up to a 400 series and beyond). Only the High Clearance series tractors were able to mount the OEM 3 PT hitches (400, 600, 3000, 4000 series). If he wanted one [3 PT hitch] he would need to custom fabricate one. The Low Profile Colt, Case and Ingersoll tractors came with Sleeve Hitches for rotary tillers. You could even get a Sleeve Hitches for the High Clearance series tractors if you didn't want or could afford a 3 PT hitch.

Here's my original 1973 J.I. Case 222 (hydraulic lift vs Manual Lift as they came from the factory - was a special order to have hydraulic lifts added) with the OEM H22 Sleeve Hitch and the H70 Hydraulic Tiller. Yep, he'll need the rear PTO in order to run a tiller. Rear PTOs are still available from Ingersoll dealers but are pretty pricey. I see 'em show up on eBay but here again they are wanted items so you know what happens in a bid frenzy.

Thank you, Allen, for the compliment. It is a pretty neat tractor.
