Just wanted to vent frustration
Is there anyone else that gets really ticked off by people who post things on Ebay, a WORLD WIDE SALES NETWORK...... but WON'T ship their item :bash2::bash2::bash2: If you don't want to ship it... PUT IT IN THE NEWSPAPER CLASSIFIEDS!!!! For crying out loud! I'm so frustrated with finding some guy with some "awesome cub cadet something" that is like 3million miles away from me, but won't ship it. Anybody else ever feel like this?:Choke:
|
Did you offer to pay shipping? I could take a gt to work, band it down to a skid, toss up on the scale and call Pitt Ohio, and load up on a 54 footer and be on it's way!
Other than that, if I cant get something not much further out of state, then I don't need it, I guess.:BangPC: |
I will ALWAYS pay for the shipping... I only hear whining on the other end... "oh, that will be expensive" :BlahBlah: I know it will "cost money", but "expensive" is a relative term. I ship to and from my business almost daily too johncub7172. I'm frustrated with even small items. I don't know if ebay sellers are just lazy, or don't know how to drive to a local store and hand them a box. Ill do everything for them.... But some people won't even put it in a freakin box!

They would be the first person that; 1) would say the item is damaged and demand a refund 2) would say the item never arrived and demand a refund 3) would say the item is less than advertised and demand a refund 4) would say the etc............... and demand a refund You gotta handle the situation with kid gloves, 99% chance the guy is new to selling. Maybe you have had good experiences selling that way, but, get burned once, and you are ready to sell local, if possible, even at a $100 loss. Also, to many, it isn't all about the money. Some people are only used to FTF sales.:bigthink: I understand the seller's POV. |
that or someone doesn't have the ambition to ship it? i know ive been asked to ship some items i sell on craigslist and i won't due to the simple fact of...i don't want to.

That don't make much sense to think you would vent about no shipping before you decided to buy the part. I understand you would have bought the part, then vented because the seller will not ship! Then what is the point of e-bay?? A lot of times the part is just not worth the cost of fuel, time, and uncertainty of going to the place of pick up on top of the asking price of part. Not trying in any way to start a war, here guys. This is my personal thought only! Truth be told, many good folks around a IH Cub Cadet has been my experience. I once sent out parts totaling 20$, and 5$ for shipping before I received payment. Well, as the story goes.......I waited and waited for the payment. I never said a word or thought of anger. Then, about 2 months later I receive payment in the mail, and a nice thank you. The purchaser was called out to work, and my package sat on his desk until he returned! It was a neat story, for sure! Hope you can find your part else-where and cheaper! Good luck { not to sound like a sap }:RollEyes2: |
Ebay frustrates me to the point I've stopped using it. Sniping auctions, expensive or no shipping, ridiculous prices because "I've seen one sell for insert high crazy price so mine must be worth it too" I've given up on that site long ago. I've got other sources for things that I'll try first.

Nope I totally get it. Anything, "free local pickup" duhh, you think??
Grinds my Gears too! |
Boy, you drug this out of the archives, lol. :biggrin2:

Agree 100% with you Jon. Most people selling on Ebay are just plain lazy. They want top dollar for junk and you have to come and get it. Last 782 I bought I had to pay at end of auction, drive 3 1/2 one way and the a$$hol3 came the the door, said "there it is" and closed the door! Wouldn't even talk about it or help load. Sesh! Not my fault it sold for $18 over minimum bid.

I was supposed to go pick up a pop up camper for my motorcycle this weekend.... at the last minute the people called and said they couldn't find the title. I thanked them. I was driving 2 hours one way to get it! Glad they told me before I drove all the way there with a trailer to haul it home on! They are getting a new title. Deal is still on, so there are good people out there too. :beerchug: |
Knock on wood I have had good luck on eBay so far. I just bought a new $1200 motorcycle seat for my 1800 Goldwing for $177.50 from a very nice gentleman. It was the wrong color for my bike so I talked with the manufacture of the seat and the seller sent it there and I had the seat color changed and was sent on to me. After me paying for the color change and shipping from the seller to the manufacture and then on to me I still have less than half of what it would cost me from the manufacture. I am saying all this because I cant say enough good about this guy, he thanked me for bidding and wished me safe riding. There are good people on eBay.

I really like the sellers on ebay that proclaim "NO RESERVE".
Yet the bidding starts at a minimum $xxx |
Unless its a BIN and free shipping sale I dont bother with epay....
|
I have over 500 purchases on evil pray and no problems other than an occasional shipping delay.
I do check sellers feedback, that helps alot. and if you do your homework/ask questions, no surprises. |

I personally don't like to ship items I sold. I've done it on very rare occasions (a car once from il to NY and a couple small parts)
My thing is I prefer hand to hand transactions that way both parties are 100% positive on what's going in and they can physically check out the item before buying..... to many headaches these days when people buy a used item for a quarter of the price of new and expect it to be new quality Edit: just wanted to note that I do not sell on ebay either. I stick to Facebook groups and craigslist |
I mentioned a bad experience with Ebay when I bought the 782, but I have had many good transaction too. There are honest people out there. As always, buyer beware. Do your homework, check the sellers feedback, ask for more pictures or information if you're not sure, and never ASS-U-ME it's ok or included!

How about the times you get n email saying"shipped" and when you want to track it it only says "shipping label created".... To me that alone does NOT qualify as "shipped" I can create a label then "forget" to actually drop it off at the PO for weeks....
|
Quote:
Or when it says it's coming from somewhere in the US only for it to take 4 days for the tracking number to show up and when it finally shows up its covered in Chinese writing |
I can't believe I started this thread 5 years ago and it only got to 9 posts....3 of which were mine.... but now, 5 years later it's up to 25. I guess more people are shopping on Ebay now than 5 years ago.....:bigthink:

I think the "shipping label created" is a USPS thing? Versus UPS, FEDEX, etc. USPS software is known to be slower-than-molasses-running-up-hill-in-the-winter, as far as updating with current info. |
The shipping label created thing is the outcome of a fairly new Ebay ruling. Sellers have a rule they must comply with in that the item is "shipped" quickly, like 48 hours or such. Obviously a loophole, as the label can be created almost immediately (to comply) and then the part sits on the guys coffee table until he's sick of looking at it.
I too have purchased a part, due largely in that it was advertised as nearby (within NY) and would get it a short period of time, only to have it be three weeks and come from California. Still, there also are some great people selling nice items at fair prices on Ebay that ship quickly and package carefully. Look closely at their feedback, that's what it's there for. |
Didn't ebay also change the feedback rules a couple of years ago?
Seems the change was in the sellers favor as well. |

It speaks of their reputation ( both good as well as negative if there is some.) |

Ordered $100 worth of oil filters and ignition tune up parts for some farm tractors last night from Napa---got 10% off for ordering online. Sent the kid by the store to pick them up today. I still prefer face to face shopping when feasible. |

Honestly this rarely happens to me at the local store I spend majority of my money with. (But does after 5pm. That's when the "kids" come in. But they know me and just let me tell them how to do their job, or let me look it up, lol.) They have a guy who deals with the shops exclusively. He's good. He should be. He worked for me for 3 years right out of college as a mechanic before he decided he was better fit for parts. His choice not mine. He was a good, very thorough tech, he was just S.L.O.W. But you could always count on it to be good work.:beerchug: Sorry, kind of off topic, but no... I think we are shopping online more. And I'm getting to the point I would rather deal with the PC than an uniformed salesman/worker/desk clerk... whatever. At least if I screw up and order the wrong thing, it's my fault. |
I am a retired hobbyist of multiple interests, maintaining my autos, home improvements, woodworking. I don't want to drive around looking for something or calling a store and speaking with a clueless sales person. Much easier to find tool choices or an obscure plumbing part or expensive electrical component from an internet store. And, if the internet store is contacted by email or phone, they know what I'm talking about. Cub Cadet parts most always come from the local Cub Cadet dealer or they order for me if not in stock.

Did you ever notice that most of the parts clerks of today don't listen? Knowing what I want, and knowing what information THEY need to look it up, I walk in and say "I need a water pump for a 1996 Chevy 1500 pickup, 4wd with 4.3 V6 and AC" then they turn to their computer and go "what year?" " 96" What engine?" "4.3 V6" etc., etc. They are robots and can't think on their own. A good counterman will either remember what you said or he (she) will have a scratch pad right there to scribble a quick note on.
|
That is because EVERYTIME you go in, the computers are slow or down!!!
Or that is what they have been trained to say when they sense your frustration.:bigthink: |
I'm so glad that I grew up when I did. :bash2:

Ain't much different @ The Fallen arches.
Girl asks me, may I take yer order please. I say Big breakfast, no hotcakes & small coffee to go with strawberry jam she says ok and I pay. Looking at the printed order, it reads correctly pretty soon somebody else hands me a tray with my order, and blueberry jam, and small coffee ok, so out the door I go, tray in hand. anybody want about a dozen trays? they make good drip trays for leaking equipment. They can't read a written order. Or second scenario: May I take yer order please? Good morning I say, I'd like a Big breakfast without hotcakes, small coffee and strawberry jam to go. Thank you she says that will be $x.xx I pay and pretty soon, I receive a bag with a big B'fast with hotcakes and hash browns, no strawberry jam but syrup for the hotcakes I didn't order, but they provided anyway, and a coffee. 3rd scenario: May I take your order please. Yes I say I'd like a big breakfast, no hotcakes, strawberry jam and a small coffee to go. Blank stare, is this to go or for here? I say to go, just like I told you, blank stare, then ah er that will be $x.xx. pretty quick I get a bag with big breakfast no hashbrowns but hotcakes & coffee. I asked for no hotcakes, I say,--- ah well I didn't charge you for them she says. ok I say, how much extra are hash browns I ask? she says they are included in the big breakfast, excuse me I say, but I don't seem to see them, emptying the bag on the counter. By this time several ppl are smiling knowingly. And she says well they are not ready yet. Ding fries are done, soon she hands me the hash browns did I mention I had to put the food back in the bag? ( I left the hotcakes sticking to the counter) I don't eat there any more. |
Last month, just before the new year I walk into the local heavy duty truck parts store. Their moto is "We stock parts so you don't have to"
"I'd like a Eaton shift motor for a two speed rear. Two hole mounting base." The guy hits whats seams like hundreds of keys on his keyboard, looks confused, says "I'll be right back". He disappears in the back room and doesn't come out for a looong time. Finally he returns and says, "Sorry, we're out of stock right now, but we should have one in next week." So, I leave. :( So much for their moto. Today during my dinner break, I give them a call. Figure I'll pick it up on the way home. Guy says "yup, got one right here" I say "two hole mounting base?" he says ," let me open it and find out". I hear a bunch of rustling, then quiet.. then he puts me on hold. I am such a fool as I really listened to that crap music for 20 minutes!:bash2: I hang up. When I get home I go online and order one from Drivetrain America in about 3 minutes. $25.00 less and free shipping. |
