Interesting trip to my doctor today....
He starting laughing when it was my turn to be seen. He said he just had a friend of his in for a visit and the guy asked if he knew of anybody that was interested in Cub Cadets.. He didn't realize I was in for an appointment. He called his friend and told him about me and my fascination with Cubs. My doctor told him that I had Yellow Fever. My doctor and I have talked about my love of Cubs. He gave me his number and I called and he said to come by after I was finished with the doctors. I went by and he has a nice 1210 in his barn. Engine had just been rebuilt, it was smoking before. He showed me that nothing happened when he turned on the key. "It's yours if you want it, free." Even has a new set of chains to go with it. I don't know much about 1210s but it looked a lot like the older QLs. Going to pick it up tomorrow.
What are the differences between it and say a 1250? I noticed that the steering tower was different and that it had a place to check and fill the tranny. Has a fuel gauge. But the engine compartment looks the same as what you see on a QL. Is the rear end the same as the older ones? Thanks for looking. John |
1210 is a good tractor. A 1210 was my second Cub after an O. Great hydro and a K301 or a Mag 12 depending on the vintage. Only down side is it has the same setup as a QL with the ISO rubber things for engine mounts. :beerchug:

I will post pictures tomorrow after I pick it up. Looking at it, it in great shape. Better than the QLs I have bought. From what I saw of the motor, it looked like a K301. It had the usual tin work around the muffler. I can check it over real quick and determine if it is the starter, relay or battery. He has a new zero turn and has lost interest in the Cub. Just needs a new seat to look good enough to put to work. 500 hrs on the clock.

You lucky dog...
A 1210 is hydro with a manual lift.does it have ccc badging on it?cast iron rear? |
The rear looked different from what I'm used to but I will have really check it out tomorrow. I was tired with all the poking, shots, blood drawn ect and didn't spend much time checking it out.

Sounds like an alum rear then.

Nice looking Cub !! I have always liked the looks of the 82 Series style tractors. And don't be afraid of the aluminum rear , it will hold up to alot. Make sure the bolts are tight that bolt the rear to the tractor.
I know it will probably not be this simple , but i bought a Cub cheap from a person that couldn't get it started. Brought it home and it wasn't getting fuel to the carb , they had the shutoff valve turned off !! You guessed it , turned on the valve and added fuel , and it started. |
