Runs real nice. I got it from the grandson of the original owner.

Came with a blade and chains.

Grandpaw made a carrier for the rear to add weight. I think it must have held square pavers or a bucket with weight added.

The electric lift works great.

Has a set of chains also.

Paid $375.

I checked CL and it was just posted. An hour later it was loaded up and paid for.

nice 147, good price too, looks to have been spray painted at one time , congrats:beerchug:

Alvy 01-01-2014 02:43 PM

That's real nice, great score. I like that you're branching out from the q/l's with the O and now this n/f, your collection is swelling. Nice e lift and lights option, looks great. That's a sweet price for what you got, congrats

PS I always like seeing the frame cutout for the ole k321 to shoehorn in there, awesome

OldAndInTheWay 01-01-2014 02:50 PM

Was the lift an option or did it come with this model as standard?

I searched this form and didn't find much posting about the 147 model, do many here have one?

I like how the factory cut and modded the frame to get the 14hp Kohler to fit also. The next models were the wide frames. That fixed the motor fitting problem..

Sam Mac 01-01-2014 02:57 PM

Nice score. Where did you find that one?

garnold 01-01-2014 02:59 PM

Great snag! Hey, did grandpa make that ball hitch that was mounted to the top of the rear end? I'm actuality looking for something like that.

I found it about 20 miles from me.

The rear hitch setup was indeed made by grandpaw . Looks real easy to make and use the rear plate bolts to mount..

REAL easy to mount. I put it on for the photos..

I have another that had a receiverhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psd6385e0b.jpg made up to the cub..

Cubcrazy 01-01-2014 03:23 PM

Nice find on the 147!
Yes, they came standard with the E-Lift and over 15,000 of them made.

bluesman 01-01-2014 03:28 PM

Holy crap what luck

Nice score. I love the front end on that series.:beerchug:

Bolt holes? And how does holes stick out?

I'm confused.. :bigthink:

ACecil 01-01-2014 04:23 PM

Congrats on your very nice 147 and attachments!

TheSaturnV 01-01-2014 04:30 PM

Congrats on the New Years find, that looks like a real keeper. I love talkin' 147s because that's what I'm building right now. I wouldn't say IH "fixed" a motor problem with the wide frames, they just came up with a clever solution to wedge a big flywheel 14 into the 147.

:D

The 147 represents a crossroads and the end of the line for the narrow frames. It has an interesting blend of the old style frame and grill, with the modern fender pan and electric lift.

Ok, back to work on mine....

Lucky man! I'd love to find a good 147. big motor, lights and electric lift standard, just great. Have fun with it!

darkminion_17 01-01-2014 09:08 PM

Nice find.
As. Nick stated it has a different axle.no serial # tag.
It also should have disc brakes.

Alvy 01-01-2014 09:27 PM

Interesting, I missed the missing data tag. :bigthink:

darkminion_17 01-01-2014 09:38 PM

Veeeeery interesting.
it has aluminum axle housings.
I like it

darkminion_17 01-01-2014 10:06 PM

I see know that was the other tractor with the hitch.

how confusing.

OldAndInTheWay 01-01-2014 10:08 PM

Two with home made hitches.. One a QL and this one.

OldAndInTheWay 01-01-2014 10:10 PM

Here is the data tag:

And it has disk brakes..

SGragg 01-02-2014 07:37 AM

Congrats on the 147! Looks like that might be your deal of the year!!

Muzzy 01-02-2014 08:49 AM

Nice 147 you picked up and a great price too. They are powerful tractors.

DoubleO7 01-02-2014 08:50 AM

other than the hood pivot point repair, it looks to be unadulterated.
Did they use vinyl covered wiring by then or is that a new harness?
Deck looks very good too.
Good find for sure.
You certainly did not snooze on that one.

Sugarmaker 01-02-2014 10:29 AM

Old,
You did real good on the nice 147 and implements!
I have some info on here about the 147R I restored. Thread "Added more IH equipment"
Your tractor is very clean and in great shape! Ready to go to work! These are the big blocks of the narrow frame series! You wont find one much nicer than the one you just got.

Regards,
Chris

I don't know about the harness..

The other Cub shown with the receiver, not the ball, is a QL 1050.

I will have to do some body repair on rear fender where the chains once caught it. The dash needs some work also. I don't see any other repairs or mods done to it other than the general spraying around with a rattle can..

drglinski 01-02-2014 01:01 PM

What a great New year! I've got a 147 and love it. I hope you didn't haul it all the way home with the winch on the mule drive...

Hey I like that!

OldAndInTheWay 01-02-2014 04:16 PM

I put it out of the weather today. It started up instantly and purred really nice. No creep from the hydro. I LIKE it. It is snowing here now. I have spent most of the afternoon bead blasting the rear rims on my O. Getting the old tires off was a pain. I need to get it on it's feet so I can continue putting it back together.. Overall a good day. Spent the morning with a doctor and tomorrow I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM for a couple cat-scans... Then I will be back working on the O.. Can't wait.. All the cubs together (minus the 4 I have here) looks impressive.
