Going to look at a 2072 tomorrow.

Listed in the CL finds on OCC, I talked to the owner for awhile today to get an idea of the condition and it needs some work but, doesn't sound too bad. Had a new Kohler 20hp installed in it about 10 years ago. It needs all the average tinkering like carb rebuild, battery, tuneup, and has a broken bracket/spindle where the power steering cylinder hooks to. I don't know much about supers so, are there any tips on what to look out for on this model? I don't have any pics yet but, I'll get some when I get up there.

Thanks.

Take a good look at the transmission mounts, look for oil leaks at the bottom of the steering box/ control valve. Drive shaft. etc. If it's the one up in Keene for $500 it probably a good deal. Pretty sure Patton has the PS bracket.

Muzzy 02-04-2014 06:06 PM

Thanks Sam, It is the one in Keene. It's 45 minutes away so, I figured Why Not? I've been looking for a super for awhile.

Where are you from? What do you think of our snowstorm? I don't think I'm going to Keene today. I did'nt think we were going to get as much as we did.

cubfan 02-05-2014 04:53 PM

If or when you get it get ready for a great time to be had,I've had a few cubs but none of them hold a candle to being as well liked as my 2072.Oh and if you're a tall person, you'll absolutely love all the leg room.Good luck and:WWP:

Muzzy 02-05-2014 06:12 PM

I hope to have some pics tomorrow. I never got up there today because of the snow and the guy that owns it plows snow as well so he was busy.

No, My 91 year old mother in law fell and broke her hip yesterday so, we were at the hospital all day. I guess I'm going to pass on it so If you're interested give him a call. I'd love to get it but, family comes first.

ACecil 02-07-2014 01:34 PM

Sorry to hear about your MIL. Thoughts and prayers for her!

Thanks Allen, She's had a rought time lately. She broke her other hip about 4 months ago and had to go into a nursing home. It sucks when you get that age.

I found this 2072 near Raleigh it doesn't run and it looks like it's been beat to death and he wants almost twice as much.

Randy, I'm seeing a switch in the dash tower and the lights should be run off the key......:bigthink: Someone needs to give him a call.

Allen, that one is close to you.

Cubcrazy 02-07-2014 09:40 PM

Somebody got it!:bigthink:

ACecil 02-07-2014 10:40 PM

That's not a bad deal at all for $500!

Sorry to hear about your MIL.

I went down this afternoon and bought it for the $500 he was asking. The engine runs good, tranny worked fine the little I could drive it with the broken steering. Starter needs some attention, and it needs new front tires. Metal is all there and straight, and it included a Gravely snow plow hooked up to a CC mount.

Leadslingingdaddy 02-08-2014 10:47 AM

So for the guy with eyes on target, does it have the rear PTO?

Muzzy 02-08-2014 11:02 AM

Congrats Yodaddy. Glad to see someone here got it. :beerchug:

Which 2072? The one yodaddy bought for $500 or the one in the link the Sam posted for sale? I'm with Todd. Looks like you can see a toggle switch for a rear PTO on the link of Sam's post.

Leadslingingdaddy 02-08-2014 03:59 PM

After review it was the one that Sam found.....dooh. and yea its been used very good from the looks of it!

Sam Mac 02-08-2014 04:26 PM

I gave a lot of thought about going after this one but it's a 4 hour one way ride and I'm not in the mood to spend $950.00 for one that doesn't run. Yes he said it has an electrical issue but if it's more than that it could get very expensive. Looks like it's pretty well used up.
