Death of the QA36
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...C344B0EB9C.jpg
I guess it's age, the amount of snow this winter and my abusing it were just too much. After that mount pin broke off, I did an evaluation of it and it would take a few bucks to bring it back up to snuff. Sad because I just fabbed up a snazzy new pair of shoes for her. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...5A8111BCBF.jpg So I checked CL, and found a H42, he wanted $325.00, we agreed on $290.00 after I discovered the shear pin was gone. So the 782 has a new front end! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...02A10024FC.jpg Anyone need a well used QA36? CHEAP! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...5EEB552A5F.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...40E8991211.jpg |
ya I can use some parts off of that what do you want for it?
|
$75.00 too much?
|
You bought another blower because a mounting pin broke off?.......:bigthink:
If I could get to Michigan I'd pick it up! |

ok well I have a question. I have a qa36 and it fits my 71. are those made to fit both wide and narrow frame tractors
|
Yes, the width is adjustable.
|
what city are you in so I can get with Fastenal for a shipping quote? I guess I should ask if you would be willing to run it over to the nearest Fastenal store and drop it on a pallet.
|
Flint Mich. Yeah, to keep from scrapping it, I'd love to see it stay in the Cub Cadet family.
|
So it is a QA36A? Not a bad price. The last snowthrower that I bought from the Michigan area in similar condition, I paid $14 for, but shipping was around $90 (Holland was the name of the freight co.....I think). Fastenal will be much more economical for shipping, so it should be a real nice deal for both of you!! Looks ideal for clearing sidewalks. Glad to hear that you are saving it to a good home.

But it has seen better days. As you can see in the pictures, the drive pulley is broken. It was the smaller diameter pulley designed to speed it up. I tried to remove it, and use it on the H42. But it too had given its all. The new "shoes" I fabbed up for it, are a little taller than the OEM ones. It added rubber "flaps" to replace the scraper blade. (the blade is still there, it's just holding the rubber in place.) The rubber flaps are too long, and the shoes too tall. If I was going to continue using it, I would lower it another inch, but the slots in the shoes would need to be opened up. This time of year, some of the sections of concrete in my driveway heave and the "scrapper" bar was getting caught on them. Make no mistake, I could fab up a new mount pin, get a used drive pulley and sell it as a running unit. But in all honesty, it is a parts unit. |
Kind of a blurry picture, but inside of the pink areas, you can see how the plates that hold it on the tractor, are adjustable in width.

That picture reminds me, it also has the curved lift arms, for a 782 tractor. As seen here;
http://ccspecialties.org/implementparts_1.html The 4th item down that page. I no longer have the striaght arms, for the narrow frame tractors. I replaced them, with these, pretty sure the old ones were hauled off. |
