Do I need more red ones?

I managed to stumble across 3 red Cadets lately. The 982 will most likely be taking up residence here. I also found a 1282 and a 782. I may pick them up and return them to running order and then resale to help finance the 982's rehabilitation program.

The 1282 looks complete with ag tires and sleeve hitch. Shows and ubelievable 4000 hours on the meter! Slightly weathered from being outdoors. Is this an unusual machine? It appears to be a 682 with a 12hp vertical engine. I don't recall the dealer dad worked for selling any of these. I'm just wondering is it highly collectable or just another grass mower. Any clue what it would be worth in operable grass mowing condition but maybe needing a little TLC?

I also stumbled across a 782. Its missing 1 hood side panel, the driveshaft, and a hydraulic line. It does have a VERY new looking replacement deck. It has the series II KT17 still in it. Not running, been sitting for a couple years. Forgot to look and see if this is an IH or MTD machine, don't really care as it was in my opinion the best Cadet built at that time. I don't need it, but it would sure mow a pretty lawn with that new deck, and much faster than the 122 that found its way here last summer.

:ExtremeFunny:

Doesn't the 1282 have an analog "clock" style hour meter on it? :bigthink:

Get them ALL!!
1282 is a good tractor. It was considered a GT, not an LT, so you can do anything with it the ol' 12 hp will handle. Basically, it's a '82 styled 1250.

I'd get them also. You have more cubs in your area of NC, than in my area.

This one has a "normal" hour meter, not that crazy clock style. I was thinking this was built by MTD, didn't the clock style meter end with IH production?

Yes, the 1282's were MTD built.

John

If you don't have it you must need it. Always works for me when I am trying to justify a purchase. :beerchug:

bruteforce 02-10-2014 07:48 AM

I second that! :biggrin2: I've only bought a handful in my state, most have been rescued from OH, MI, IL, and one from PA. :Boohoo: We need some too!

Note to self, don't bother to ask this crowd if you should get another Cadet, the answer will always be YES. I do notice a sincere lack of how to explain why you need another to your better half.:biggrin2:

John

We have been known to get very creative when explaining to the better half why or how a new to us Cub just happened to show up. :biggrin2:

Cubcrazy 02-11-2014 04:16 PM

I don't even try to explain anymore!:biggrin2: There is always one or two sitting on the trailer at all times so she doesn't know the better! hehe

rdehli 02-11-2014 09:28 PM
