450 snowblower
I just picked up a 450 blower I was hoping to use it on my 1211 do you think it will run it if I go slow enuff? I also have a 1282 with a 14hp kohler in it . The only thing is its manual lift. What one should I use oit on?
|
That is a big blower.....Will that 12/14hp have enough get up and go to push it?

There is no way you want to use that on a tractor with manual lift.
The 12hp is definitely marginal, but yes, you can just slow down to keep the engine loaded to your preference. I ran a blower on my 1450, and it did pretty well. If it was the light fluffy stuff, I could drive faster than the blower could take in the snow. If it is the damp heavy stuff, then you have to slow down even if you have 18hp. Btw, the 1211 is a great platform that can accept a lot of engine choices with no customization. Put the blower on the 1211, see how it works for you, and then if you want more power, take your pick. To make a blower effective on any tractor you want weight and chains. |
Steve you know we like pictures....
You will need the blower for the next few days. |

so guys its not a 450 blower its a 551 blower. i found out you have to change the belt from 89 inches to 86 inches an it works a lot better. i was trowing it 30 foot easy with only a 14hp cub. when i went into abot 28 inches of snow i had to creep in to the snow. then it snower about 6 inches today an i can bail right throu it no problem. got to love the 2 stage blowers. im never going back.

Sorry for jumping in here, but I thought this would be as good a place as any to ask if anyone has a 450 mounted on 1872 super. I just bought the blower, but it was previously on and 1812 so I need to install the kit (Model 448 no longer available)which lowers the swing arm pivot to the main harness. I have the extenders made but I think I have lowered it too far. Does anyone have a set up like this and would it be too much to ask someone to measure how far apart the holes are?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just got a 450 blower and have a couple questions. I have an 1810 and a 1211. The 1211 currenty has the engine in the shop and I was thinking of swapping the 18 into it since the 1211 is in much better shape and it's hydro. Do I need any special linkages to get the 1211 hydro to lift the 450? Mine has a mule drive for the 44" deck on it currently. Also, does anyone know where I can find the quick pins that attach the 450 to the tractor frame? Everywhere I look they're discontinued. I can' find a clevis or anything to replace them. 3/4 is too big and 5/8 is too small.
