Ebay Sucks

Any one else a seller on Ebay? Is it me are they sucking more now than ever. I am so sick of all the crap they pull on sellers. Thing is a pile of %$#%

Between people buying stuff taking parts of it and then demanding a refund and Ebay always siding with the buyer I am surprised anyone even sells there anymore.

Anyone else have problems with them?

Yosemite Sam 02-24-2014 10:07 PM

Yup, I haven't sold anything on ebay for a good while... It's funny, I always thought that the "people" would be the ones to ruin it, turns out, it's the ones running the thing that have ruined it.

gsomersjr 02-24-2014 10:14 PM

I'm right there with ya. Buyers file a claim for a refund claiming they got a bad part, ebay sides with them, and then they return to me their old part and keep the good one I sold them in the first place.

Take pictures of whole part and take pictures of distinguishing marks on your part. I don't know if that would work, but it might help your claim. Those little marks can help identify the part you sell and the seller's junk part.

Sorry to hear that you had problems.....sometimes life is like tug o' war---one jerk after another.

Jenn and I have had no problems selling on Ebay so far.

gsomersjr 02-24-2014 10:31 PM

I've only been stuck a few times, and never over a Cub Cadet part. It doesn't matter what I choose to do. Ebay will refund the buyer and pull the money out of my Paypal account. Sellers have no control. I started dismantling Porsches and selling the parts on Ebay in 1999 to fund my racing. It has changed so much since then but it's the only game in town. It's better than selling nothing at all.

yep have been there done the picture thing, Ebay still sides with the buyer 99% of the time. I sent a midland cb radio out one time. buyer cried item as not described and he sent back a uniden CB. I had picture of it going into the box and everything. Ebay still forced me to give his money back. Even on items marked as is no return, they still force you to give back money. but when a buyer don't pay you, no have to wait two weeks fill out a bunch of crap and they still don't go into the buyers account and get my money. but on return they force upon me they go take it right out of my bank account. 2 different sets of rules

Never have sold on ebay before and from what you guys describe sounds like I don't want to!

wally67 02-25-2014 07:26 AM

I pretty much quit selling on ebay due to the high fees and not so honest buyers. I try to stick to the forums or Craigs List when selling.

I've only sold a couple dozen items on ebay, but never had a problem.

ken6x6 02-25-2014 11:45 AM

i try not to sell on ebay anymore. the fees suck, the rules for seller, returns, paypal fees. it used to be a lot better. buying from ebay isn't so bad.

Alvy 02-25-2014 03:44 PM

Wow that's interesting as I've never heard of that before. That sounds ridiculous that even if you have proof they side with the seller, and I guess I'm naive, that is really shady to send back a damaged or old part just to work the system. But that's what always ruins something good for honest people. Ugh, jerks.

I agree, jerks. They know its hard to deal with them living hundreds of miles away...

I had bought some Harley tee shirts on a road trip for her to make a quilt. once we pick the ones to use we listed the others on ebay. Now these are New with tags, never worn. Guy buys one, I ship it. then he opens a case saying that the shirt was heavily worn and had oil spots on it. Now understand I have pics of this new shirt showing tags and the lines from being folded. showed them to ebay. they still went into my paypal account and sent the guy back his money AND I never got the shirt back. So I was out shirt money and shipping. Or the other thing I like is, if the shipping company damages the item, you the seller are help accountable for that also. Like I control the shipping.

mrmiller 02-25-2014 08:50 PM

I have sold quite a bit on EBay but not so much anymore. I can't stand the fees!:bash2:

Yosemite Sam 02-25-2014 10:27 PM

Wow, I haven't had the kinds of trouble that you guys have had, basically I can't stand the fees... If you sell something for $5.00 and charge the actual shipping costs, you have pretty-much given it away.

Non paying bidders are a PITA and ebay won't do anything about them. The "keyword" thing is also a PITA, people think that I, as a die-hard Cub Cadet person want to look at their John Deere or MTD crap, that has nothing to do with a Cub Cadet. And people who constantly put the wrong information in their descriptions and ebay won't do anything about that either. Don't even get me started on the morons who put something stupid like 10 front pto lever and rockshafts on for a gazillion dollars each.

Not sure if it's still true, but at one time ebay would delete your add if you said that you will only accept payment in the form of a USPS money order, or that you will charge a fee if they want to pay with paypal. It's all about eBay's bottom line...

I suggest that the powers that be, here on OCC, start an auction section of their own and start cutting in on ebays action... When they do, I want a percentage for suggesting it!

Hmmm, not sure I knew I had all that pent up inside... I think I may feel a little better now.

Rant over.

I agree, ebay sucks, and having been screwed by them, and gone through their "seller protection" I can assure anyone with doubts that it is meaningless when you are the seller being screwed. For what it is worth, Amazon is just as bad. with either one of them, even if you have full documentation where the seller agrees to your terms on returning an item, it comes down to the customer wins on whatever they are demanding.
