Kubota dealership lost my zero turn!

I took my ZD326 in for a complete service. I do it every winter. They call last week to tell me it was ready. Due to many doctor appointments, today was the first time I got to go and get it. Stopped at the service department and paid. Had one of them go and help me load it up from out back where you drop off and pick them up for service.. We look around and can't find it... Look some more and still not found.. Get one of the service managers to come and help look.. still no go. Looked inside the service area (large) and not there.. The manager told me he would ask the guys who worked on it when they get back from lunch and they would deliver it to me here. I wait 3 hours and no Kubota. I call them and they still haven't found it. They asked if I had already picked it up.. ? They said they would look at the surveillance cameras and try to figure it out...

What the heck!

Their computer shows that only I paid for the service... today.

How the heck you lose a big zero turn?

How could any competent dealership loose a mower?:bigthink:
Good luck, hope they find it.

darkminion_17 03-21-2014 06:41 PM

maybe someone borrowed it to cut some grass.

OldAndInTheWay 03-21-2014 06:44 PM

Been winter here for the past 10 months. No grass needs mowing here.

darkminion_17 03-21-2014 06:47 PM

well I think that sucks they can't find it.If you paid by credit card I would stop payment on it till they find it.

ken6x6 03-21-2014 07:15 PM

im going to go with, they gave your mower to the wrong customer.

Sam Mac 03-21-2014 08:01 PM

I'm going with find it now or give me a new one or talk to my lawyer.

Lmao lew!! :biggrin2: sorry, hope you find it and refund your money until its found.

kostendorf 03-21-2014 08:16 PM

That is awful, They should give you some kind of restitution regardless whether they find it or not.

gmbadgley 03-21-2014 08:32 PM

Lets hope they are an honest, legitimate dealer that will make it right with you. But on the other hand, it serves you right for switching to orange!!! :bigthink:

DoubleO7 03-21-2014 08:38 PM

I think there will be a new policy instituted shortly where serial numbers are recorded upon drop off and pickup of customer equipment.

IH Cub Cadet 03-21-2014 08:41 PM

Not good! I have a way of finding the WORST dealers ever. I can totally understand why folks buy box store mowers. Hopefully you have a better luck with your dealer and I hope so. Worse case, they got great insurance! Maybe this will turn into a new mower.

Good luck,
Bill

Jeff in Pa 03-21-2014 08:55 PM

I just checked ebay for prices, that's not an inexpensive machine.

They had better make this right PDQ

hdsdcouple 03-21-2014 09:50 PM

tell them to check with the sale department, bet they sold it.

true story here. One of my friends took their Harley to shop for service in a dealer near Vegas. they did the service and then they wash the bikes. now this is a larger deal they have 100's of bikes here. sale man took a guy in the back room to look at a trade in. sold my buddies bike. he got it back luckly but still it happens. bad management, poor paper and salemen who work on commission.

I am betting they sold it

The wrong customer musta been pretty happy with the mower. If that was the case, gotta love to good, honest people nowadays.......

I, too would be threatening about getting a lawyer involved. Either find my mower or give me a new one, 2014 model that is. How on earth a dealer can loose a customer's mower is beyond me. I would think they would be a "former dealer" for me. :beerchug:

Someone got sticky fingers and toted off with it. I hope for your sake, they find it or make things right. Good luck and keep us posted.

bocephus1991 03-21-2014 11:18 PM

WOW! I'd be ticked too! I wonder if maybe they did sell it? That or somebody stole it! Hope you get it back or a new mower!

When since do you give up the title when you bring a bike in for service? You can't sell something to be licensed without a title, I would think even in Vegas:bigthink:

J-Mech 03-22-2014 12:39 AM

I wouldn't worry too much..... yet. If it got stolen, that really isn't their fault, and I'm sure they have insurance. If they sold it, I'm sure they will get it back for you. If they lost it, they'll find it.

Yes they can, I traded a car when I bought a new van and they had the car sold and off the lot before they finished servicing my new van. I had not given them the title yet. All they have to do is print out a pink slip. No title needed.

Rocking416 03-22-2014 07:13 AM

The name of the dealership isn't McMicheal 's is it?

I'm clueless here. If his bike just went in for service it must have had plates on it and already registered on the road. :bigthink:

Geez! Hopefully they get you fixed up soon John!

:ExtremeFunny: I think he is a little further west, but I could totally see that.

That is where my 1864 and 1811 were purchased new.

Cubcrazy 03-22-2014 10:41 AM

Nice looking Z-turn John!
Have you heard anything?:bigthink:

OldAndInTheWay 03-22-2014 11:15 AM

Nope.. Don't know how hard they are looking, to tell you the truth. You would think they would call just to keep in touch...

Since I will be tied up most of next week I am gonna let my Lawyer deal with it.

Nice machine! Hope they find it for ya. Dang, didn't realize those went for so much. Same price as my B3300 with loader.........

gcbailey 03-22-2014 02:12 PM

You can get a 2013 and prior ZD326 for under $13k. They are supposed to have changed the engines for 2014 to meet the lovely new diesel emissions standards, it's supposed to bump up the price a couple grand.

The ZD326 is an awesome machine. Hope they find it. If not I can make you a deal on a 331! haha.

Ray 03-22-2014 02:44 PM

If they can't find it, could it have been stolen from their yard? I would have them contact the local Police or Sheriff's Office and report it stolen. And I wouldn't wait too long to file the report.

CubDieselFan 03-22-2014 03:40 PM

Yep, I think I would file a police report and call my home owners insurance company, first thing Monday morning. You will get another mower one way or another. Your insurance company should fight for you.

I hope the new Emissions on the new mowers works better they the Emissions on big trucks work

OldAndInTheWay 03-22-2014 03:51 PM

I'm sure the dealership has insurance that will cover this. My home owners will probably say it was out of my control.. We'll see. I won't be able to handle it myself due to pending back/spine operation (April Fools Day) so I feel if I haven't heard something positive by Tuesday I will turn it over to my attorney.

Wow! Here it's title in hand if your trading in anything that will be licensed for use on the hwy. Matter of fact the last ATV I traded in they needed my registration card.

DoubleO7 03-22-2014 09:54 PM

Was there another similar mower to yours in the shop awaiting pickup?
Maybe some other customer "mistakenly" ended up with yours.

OldAndInTheWay 03-23-2014 07:19 AM

That could be. BUT the person should know their machine. I know mine from others. Little things. There was another one there in a place that seemed strange. When I checked it out I soon saw it was not mine. Just little things that you will find after having a machine for a while.

The dealership should see that a machine that was supposed to have been picked up is still there if a switch happened.

john hall 03-23-2014 07:59 AM

The IH/Cadet dealer dad retired from put a tag on EVERY pieced of equipment that came in to be worked on. It had the customers name and a brief description of what was to be done. If a customer took forever to come get it, it would be moved into storage (larger items that got in the way). They did have a Echo hedge trimmer to get stolen from the shop. It belonged to a university that had ran out of budget money. So, it got left sitting in the shop for a couple months, shoved into a corner near the drink machine. When the new budget came in, they came to pay the bill and pick it up, it was gone. I imagine the university didn't get compensated for the trimmer and the dealer didn't get paid for the repairs.

My guess is it got stolen or there was a 3rd party picking up a mower and didn't know what they were supposed to get, or the dealer sent the delivery driver to take one home and he grabbed the wrong one, put it under the shed at the owners and the owner hasn't bothered to check it yet. Regardless, the dealership owner should have had a very one sided conversation with the mechanics, truck drivers, and shop foreman. If none of them made a mistake he should have immediately called the police.

My thoughts are, emissions on anything under 50hp.... pffft..... :BangPC:

The dealer has a LOT of explaining to do if they wouldn't want the cops involved.

This dealer does put a tag on ever machine that comes in. I don't know how long I should wait for them to figure things out. I will be tied up most of the day tomorrow. I think I will give them a call in the morning before I head out.

But a "shady" customer might not speak up when the shop employee grabs the wrong one to load onto the customers trailer when that "shady" customer sees one better than his being loaded.
Or if a commercial lawn service picked it up, and they have several like it, the LS employee might not realize it is not one of theirs.
