Well the Grote Rep stopped in our shop yesterday, he had something really cool so I ordered a set. Going to replace my glass head lights with these babies.

LED work lights about blinded us in the shop with them. they are made for full size ag tractors. I will be able to mow at night with no problem now

I've looked at those, but the price was outrageous. What did he quote them to you at? :bigthink:

they offer those in a near and long range focal point

long range was 1500 meters so I ordered a set of short. going to use them on the other O I have to put together. they look neat from the side.

well the way I weighed it out is everyone wants $100 to$200 bucks for sets of lights. I peace of metal with 2 holes, two light bulbs and a couple of wires. and you still can't see 20 feet. so what he heck.

I use 35 watt Grote lights...... I can see just fine. :bigthink:

Oh sure, I'd prefer the LED for the amp load..... but for that kind of money I can put a 90 amp alternator on it!! :biggrin2:

I thought I ran across some LED replacement lights that would replace the sealed beams. I've got a couple tractors and a combine that could stand an upgrade. I guess I'm becoming accustomed to modern vehicles with good lighting and am wanting the same quality lights on everything I have.

I've been looking at these (the surface mount lights) for a LONG time, but the price has always stopped me. I'm curious how they look on the tractor and the field of light you end up with after they're installed.

For a tractor that needs everything for lighting; wiring, mounts, switches, etc., this might not be a bad option money wise. Such as an NF with just a filler panel to start (like my 100).

Jeeze, how much work do you guys do after dark that you require so much light! :biggrin2:

Almost every time I use the tractor. I'm a busy guy. Seems like I always end up mowing in the dark. :biggrin2::biggrin2:
Besides, I push snow too, and I know you did that in the dark too! Hard to clear a parking lot when it's full of cars! They're usually empty at night! :beerchug:

I do my best work in the dark and tractors are not involved. :Spank:

ya I work between 70 and 100 hours during the asphalt season. Mon thru Saturday, so my acres get mowed in the dark most the time.

Everyone used to think it absurd to cut grass at night, but I often times find myself hurrying to get finished before dark... If you had very good lighting, it wouldn't be so bad.

And I always push snow at night!

Also, J, how much were your regular 35W Grote bulbs and where can we buy them? They seem like a huge improvement over stock from the picture.

Sorry ... went out in garage and looked thru my rebuild file ... but no could locate ... if I remember correctly they were stock replacements thru one of the site vendors. Must have been the paint fumes or maybe the beer ... guess I thru it out :BangPC:

Thanks scgt... Are they similar to what J is showing below with the Grote lights? They seem like the sun vs. stock. Mine both have GE bulbs in them now but I have no clue what they are.

I'm still curious about the performance of HD's LEDs.

Sleeping in the recliner doesn't count bud! :-)

I didn't change the front lights. AFAIK, the stock bulbs are 35W. I do know that an old bulb does lose some of it's "shine". The Grote's I got at a Federated Auto Parts. 35W lights can be bought at any parts store. I get replacements from O'Reilly's. I don't remember the part number. Maybe I can find it.......

Thanks, J. Maybe I just need some new factory lights? Mine shine about 15-20 feet and if its actually night time they're basically just marker lights for other people to see me. :)
