Which hubcaps? Vote and help me decide.

Thought I'd have some fun with this and let the other enthusiasts decide. First, these smooth chrome hubcaps arrived in the mail today. They are in excellent overall shape with only one scratch on the face. Second, here is a picture of a cub 1000 that came with the hubcaps in its picture already on it and I still haven't had a chance to ride this cub since my ankle injury when I was trying to unload it--:bash2:. Third, I have never had a creepy gear, so I was wondering if I can shift it while on the go or not?

Vote which hubcap I should put on the 1000. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration of my poll.

Gotta be the moons man, put them others on jd and post the pics every place you can think of...

I think you need to leave the caps on it and send me the smooth ones to dispose of in a safe manor. (682)

Taking the picture from behind the counter to continue to conceal your identity.....very sneaky Maxwell. If your going to leave those hubcaps on, you need to change the steering wheel to a chrome chain steering wheel, maybe a footprint clutch pedal while your at it. Otherwise go with the smooth ones.

I don't like hubcaps...... even IH ones. It's the farmer in me I guess. I like open wheels. Unless your going to pull it. Then the added "bling" is cool. Hubcaps are for cars. Just my :TwoCents:

No, don't shift the "creepy gear" without the clutch.

Well played Maxwell, well played. :beerchug:

Operator 6, I was never a fan of the hubcaps either and I've been collecting for 15 years, but the guy gave me a price that I couldn't refuse--he just wanted them gone! So I thought they might be useful. The local HS band said that they might be interested in using the cub to pull their equipment onto the field for shows.

:bigthink:Never thought of tricking out the steering wheel Bill, but that is a nice touch! I could really mow the lawn in style as a low rider. Truth be known, the picture isn't even at my place.:biggrin2:

Ok. Well, in that case I'm going to vote for the IH ones. I'll cast my vote now.

I vote for the smoothies.
Then I would ad a IH vinyl or 3D vinyl emblem on each one.
Something like these:

jimbob200521 05-30-2014 09:21 AM

Where's the option for neither? I wouldn't use the IH ones because I'd hate to scratch/scuff them and depreciate their collect-ability/value, not to mention what John said, I don't like tractors with Hub Caps.

As far as the others, there only usefulness would be target practice. :beerchug:

I know I'm going against the grain here but I kinda like the plastic ones! They are growing on me for your cub

Dad has them on his 125 (the smooth ones) and the IH ones on his 782. Since they've been on since before I was born, they look stupid removed.

That being said, I didn't have hubcaps on my 147 when I bought it, and that's ok, I like the look of it without.

I'd like the caps during the winter to keep snow from piling up inside the wheel. BUT they don't look the same once they are dented and are very prone to surface rust pitting here in the good ole sometimes muggy state of MI. If I ever found a set I'd probably sell them.

MinnesotaCadet 06-01-2014 09:48 PM

Where did you get those smooth chrome hub caps? I've looked everywhere for them. :bigthink: IMO I would put on the smooth ones. Looks closer to the IH ones. :beerchug:

ConnorI saw them listed on CL and the man was willing to ship them. He said that he had them in a garage sale, but he would pull them off the table and package them for me. I got lucky he was willing to save me over an hour of travel time, not to mention the ridiculous amount for fuel.

Looks like I will be putting the smooth chromies on, judging by the vote! I will post pics of the change in the near future! Thanks fellas for voting and commenting :beerchug:. I was indifferent, so I am certainly glad that I got other's opinions on it!!

I'll take the "dub caps" if you don't want 'em... Too funny to refuse! And YES I'll actually mow with them on it. :) Neighbors will laugh like crazy.
