Last time I did one I pulled the complete handle assembly out of the tractor to work on it. This is what your dealing with. Once you get the rod out of the center something with a hook should be able to get the spring out.

http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4641 Pretty much a PITA job. Maybe you can get something with a hook down inside and pull the spring out, worth a try. |
Spring.
I can't even see a spring.lol When I took the b utton off there seems to be another thing in the hole with short threads on it,,can't get it to come out.I'm sorry to keep bothering you and thanks much,,Joel

The thing in the hole with the threads on it is the rod that runs all the way to the bottom, part #6 in the pic.
You may be able to push that rod down enough to get at the spring without removing the whole deal. Maybe some of the NF experts will chime in on this one. |
Thank you.
Thank you sir,I will try that and thanks again for your help an time...Joel

Whenever I had to remove the lift rod out of my old 107 that I used to have, I ran out of room to get it out of the bottom. I then drove it up on ramps to my trailer, parked it on an incline (and of course blocked the tires from rolling) and it came right out from the underside for me to work on. Good luck on your repair!

If you can get the spring out without removing the lock rod (#6 in the illustration as previously mentioned), I would HIGHLY recommend it.
I bent the :censored: out of mine getting that rod all the way out, and I screwed up the threads on it putting it back in. It was all sorts of a mess getting a new one in there that wouldn't bend up on me. Good luck! |
