fresh red paint or back to yellow?
I got this O at an auction and I figured "well I can re paint it yellow "
but the red is kinda growing on me. what do you guys think Farmall red repaint or Cub yellow? I was trying to do a poll But I can't figure it out. (feel free to help out Mods) http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/...psea98df72.jpg |
Red has more sex appeal, but I would paint the fenders white for a stand out factor. I want to white the fenders on my 73 if ever I get time. Congratulations on your O....looks like a fun project!
**To set up a Poll, when you create the thread go down to the additional options and set up the submenu as a poll. There are some other steps, but it will guide you through them. Cub Cadet 123 |
I vote yellow.
I have never wanted an "O". Just didn't appeal to me. But I must say, they seem to be growing on me lately....... :bigthink: |

I have a 129 that needs a paint job. I have considered painting it with the same color scheme that it currently has only replace the yellow with Farmall red. I just think it would look cool. I vote you paint it red, but it really doesn't matter. The yellow is great as well.

I did a 147 in red and like the way it turned out. Congrats of the complete tractor.
Regards, Chris |
I vote what IH made it look like @ the factory. Yellow and cream it is.
|
Yellow is my favorite color, but my 149 is going red and white like a 1066.

Red and white..............
|
If the red & white is growing on you, then what's the debate? Besides, you could always get a 2nd and go yellow and white! :beerchug:
BTW, I voted for red & white. |
I like red and white, but it needs more white than the hood to look good...
|
I kinda like it the way it is, it hearkens back to the purpose: corrosion prevention. Looks like it was used as a tool, as it was meant for. Not many things have the feel of a well-worn, fully serviceable tool.

I voted yellow, but that's only because this wasn't an option...
If it's gonna be a custom color, may as well get way cool. :) :beerchug: |
Keep it red
I'd stick with the red, looks like it's a watersand and fresh paint! I have a yellow&white original too.But keep it easy on yourself, keep the red.Paul

Originally the Cub Cadet { later became known as the Original } should have been red. This color would not be seen until the last IH production models, which were the spread frame 82 Series garden tractors. I like both colors ! There is a very nice Original restoration done in the Farmall red from an OCC member,...just can't think from who.....
Allen would say keep it in original work clothes too, yes, the hood does look well matched with age, ! |
I read a history book on ih cub cadets. It said that the originals were going to be painted ih red and federal yellow. This was going to be the choice of the customer, but was later rejected for cost and practicality purposes

Then chrome the exhaust stack, grill, air cleaner, and maybe the wheels too. A wood grain steering wheel would also add a nice touch of class. |
I guess you can tell how I would vote

its my now 5 year old daughters tractor
she wasn't even 3 when I built it and she helped me and honestly I have less in that tractor than you would have tied up in a new power wheels plastic thing. she loves her tractor and she will let everyone know it is hers. |

I saw that pink 72 at a time when lots of ppl were buying those crappy electric cars for their kids.
My thought was wow- that's smart. My kids love to drive our 1650, mowing not so much. Kudos on the 72. Love the steel wheel one too- need a link on you making it. Michael |
