Cart full!

My GF and I are both divorcee's. Together we have 5 kids. (My 2, her 3.) Our "schedules" are a little different so, not all 5 are home all at once for more than a couple days. But, it's summer, and all 5 are with us for a little over a week. So, took some time off to play tonight. During the school year, not much time in the evenings after homework, supper, and baths, then off to bed! But now, we've got a little more "play time". Pulled the 125 and the cart out and took them for a ride. Went up and down the road, through the ditches, back to a pond near the house. We had a great time!

Very nice Jonathan!

I'm glad you got to to spend some time the whole family, John; and it's great to see them enjoying your hobby. Who knows, maybe you're breeding a whole new generation of yellow fever patients!! :biggrin2:

darkminion_17 06-17-2014 09:51 AM

Cool pic.did you let one drive you around in the cart?

Berwil 06-17-2014 09:55 AM

Looks like a good time, I remember doing that when I was a kid. Wasn't long till we were driving each other in the cart so we could get daytime rides while dad was at work.

Your pic makes me think of when my three were little. They could ride with me on the tractor if I was not mowing but when mowing riding with dad was a no no. I did hook up either a wagon or trailer and they could ride there while I mowed and they had a ball being pulled around the yard.

ACecil 06-17-2014 11:49 AM

Awesome pic, Jonathan!

Shotgun Wedding 06-17-2014 12:50 PM

Wow! This is one of those few pictures that will become absolutely priceless for you and to each of them 30 years from now. A picture that will make you long for those days years from now. Absolutely beautiful.

Redblower 06-17-2014 09:47 PM

Nice Jonathan! What they all said, "priceless", that pic inspires me to get one like that in a couple of weeks when the grandsons are here, thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys!!

Ryan, yeah, I think I may be breeding a new generation. They sit on them all the time, and the 3 boys are constantly asking me to let them mow, drive, whatever, the cubs. I started working with my son on it last year, but he is 7 1/2 now, and still developing coordination. He does really, really good, and listens to instructions (don't go any faster than the stop on the hydro lever). Her two boys..... lets just say, they aren't driving my tractors anytime soon. They told me I don't need to show them, they know how. Yeah....... :BangPC:

Lew, no I didn't take a turn in the cart. Seat didn't look comfy enough! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Paul and Bill, my dad used to ride me around too. But, living on a farm, that didn't last long. I was about my sons age when I started mowing with our cub we had!! By the time I was 9, it was basically "my" tractor. I took care of it, and used it everyday. But, we had hogs, and my dad started driving a truck. He still helped farm, but he no longer farmed for a living (grandad did, long story :biggrin2:) and I had to take care of the hogs while he was on the road. I used it to haul feed, supplies, and bedding (straw) around to the lots we had. Plus, I mowed our yard, my grandparents, and like 3 or 4 others. I drove that cub to get there. Farthest I had to drive to mow, about 3-3.5 miles one way. My, how the world has changed. You can't get a high school kid to mow yards for money now. They're too good for that. Let alone work period!! Oh, well....

I know I will treasure the pic, and the good times. Because I look at the pics of me as a kid, and remember. Thanks for all the kind words guys, I'm happy to share too! :beerchug:

Jonathan..THESE are the memories/pix that will last forever. Great to get "mud on the tires", even if only to take the children around the homestead.

Warmest Regards

Cubby Guy

Your right Jonathan, you can't get a high school kid to mow yards for money, but you can get a just finished middle school kid to mow for free and happy to do it.:biggrin2:

Stuff on my face? Dirt? Oh, that's a nice black beard. Like the pirate. Surely yours was once black, wasn't it Moses? :biggrin2::biggrin2:

Great pic, Jonathan. Those kids will remember that ride for many years if not the rest of their lives. Cherish these times. They'll be off on their own before you know it.

Yeah, yeah..... LOL!

To everyone I didn't already thank.... THANKS!
Mixing families is hard. Things are coming around. I'm just glad it's summer so that we can spend some real time together. Like I said, during the school year, it's rush, rush.... Not that this summer has been slow, what with baseball, work, farming..... (the list goes on). But, at least during the day the kids can play and we get a little more time together in the evenings. :beerchug:

A time to remember , is when the kids all have a smile on their faces from ear to ear , & it's even better if it happens all at once !

I'm setting up for the local 4 of July parade with my 2 oldest ( Abby 4 yrs & fisher 2 years ) Abby's tractor " toothless" & an old wooden wagon my father used for fire wood 20 years ago, ( needless to say it needed a little work ) but happy kids make for happy parents !

& the fun things our parents did with us ( which may or may not be legal now ) is what we can pass on to them !

Very Nice!

When I was in junior high my parents built a new home in the middle of a 5 acre bean field. My dad scoured dept stores looking for cheap (half dead) trees to plant and he'd go into the woods and mark small trees he wanted dug up and moved into the yard. My job after school and thru the summer of '61 was to fill up two 55 gallon drums dad welded to a two wheel trailer. I'd drive the Wheel Horse around the yard and dump gallon buckets on each newly planted tree. Seemed terrible at the time, but those gorgeous maple, oak and evergreens look great today!
