So I picked up a 1872 some time ago and i'm finally getting around to rebuilding the deck on it. I like looking at others pictures, so here are some of my progress.

I plan on replacing bearings, seals and top nuts on spindles. I wound up with two good spindle shafts. And I have one of the " pump bearings" that is good off of another 50" deck. Is there a reason I couldn't use the pump bearing on one spindle (middle) and the shafts on the other two? Also, is the seals the same part # on the pump bearing?

Nice job on the deck. It looks better than mine did. The more I hit mine with the wire wheel the more pin holes I found. Atleast my bearings and spindles were all good so that one less thing to fix.

Ha. I cant get to all the "projects" I have around here. As for cost, a friend of a friend did it for me. Said he couldnt charge me any $, so i filled a cooler with cold drinks for his men.:beerchug:
I do need to clearify something. On the parts illistrations, it looks like the "pump bearing" spindles do Not require a seal. It has been a long time since I took the donor deck apart and can not remember. Is this correct? No seals?

Deck looks good. I'm not sure what your talking about with the "pump bearing spindles", can you explain?

Thanks Oak, I thought I had seen them called that on here at some time. They are the big non serviceable bearing.Attachment 53476

Well finally had a few hours to work on deck today. Got all my parts together. Attachment 54340
Thought I could finish today. Ha Had been so long since I disassembled the deck, I forgot the sequence to put spindles back together. Had to come in and do some searching. Glad I did. Saw where one seal needs to be put in upside down. Got 2 of the three bearings back on. Always tomorrow. Ha

Well i finally finished the deck, sort of. Still need decals and 2 spindle nuts. I used grade 8 nuts on top of spindles. They were to tall for the pulley cover to fit. I probably won't put cover on but if I wanted to later, then I could. I put on my 782 to test. Will keep on it till the 1872 is ready to use.
These tractors are kind of a pandoras box. Now rebuilding the mule drive and "carriage' for the 1872.
So since I always enjoy pictures of your projects.
