Maybe he found my $1800 "green tractor" u-joint thread from last week and tucked tail? ;)

Will pick it up today. Closer inspection will determine how big a mistake it was.... (there are two of these, one for 'parts'. We will see. Am pretty confident I didnt lose any money on it). But I had to chuckle - called on one tractor and it ended up being two as a package. And a guy was coming today to pick up a 1650 I had sold, so thought I was working the numbers down and was stable.

Was trying to work my way down to only two (2), dos, tractors. Im failing. They are like tribbles...

Will put a proper post once I have pictures, but this is my first red one.

Thats awesome! Hmmm... I wonder if in the process of painting a tractor, I painted my wifes mixer, that it would gain more support for tractor paraphernalia....

The only question might be whether she prefers a red or yellow/white mixer...

Well, I guess to answer that I would have to know the official method for what counts as a 'tractor'?

Does it have to run?
What if its a complete frame but with no motor?
What if it does run and has most of the parts, but Im stealing parts left and right off it and soon to be just a frame?
Does a bare frame count? Frame with wheels and rear end as a roller?

The answers to these questions might have an impact on the total number....

(Im on a small wooded lot and need to haul firewood, drag logs, move rocks around (lots of rocks), and snow. And some more snow. Nothing that couldnt be done with a single tractor. But right at the moment I will put my total count at... 6. Or 8 depending how you count) I keep saying I am going to get down to 2.

Saying that, now, THAT, is a problem!!!!! :bigthink:

This is part of my fleet, since this was taken I've added a 1782 and a 149.

At my house, we define "A Tractor" as: It must "Run and Drive", though some may need a battery and a shot of starting fluid (hard as "heck" to keep that many good hot batteries in that darn many tractors) to get them going.

"Run and Drive" is defined as: Starts and runs with a key or possibly jumping the solenoid. Must have a throttle cable, although does not necessarily need to have the choke cable hooked up (but only if the choke lever can be reached from the drivers seat). Enough tires must hold air to "limp" it to the nearest air hose from where it normally resides without "breaking the bead" (although this is not preferred). Gas tank, fuel line and carburetor must not leak (although the "shut off" can drip a little while it is being turned). Lift levers, hydraulic lifts or electric lifts must be in working order. PTO's must be operational, UNLESS unit was not so equipped from the factory, ie Originals, OR if the tractor is designated as as a working unit with an attachment that does NOT require a pto (for instance, a designated blade tractor). All others are considered to be "Projects", "possible project tractors" or "parts tractors" until such time as they have been robbed of enough parts that they can no longer roll or otherwise be towed from one end. Then they are considered "just parts".

If you are any kind of serious about "getting it down to 2". Then I would have to say "YES, you are in need of professional help".

This seems even more psychotic, but this last one I picked up is 'too nice'. Belongs in a collection of someones.

That way I wont worry about my kids running it into a tree. Or if it sits outside and gets wet due to other projects taking the storage space. Or whether the series I engine will take the hills.

And just as importantly, I realized that having a perfectly intact tractor isnt that much 'fun'. Fun to use, but lost the satisfaction of turning wrenches and painting, which I now realize is part of what I am after. Not enough of a 'project'....

I will sleep on it a few more days, but think I will just resell this one to raise some $$ to cover the other projects.

And that parts tractor is a 1450 and will simply be passed along. And a 1650 parts tractor sold over the weekend. So by the definitions given here, that will put me down to 3. I can get from 3 to 2. Maybe. Although the fewer they are the harder the decisions...
