My 982 update

I've done a ton of work on this rig, but I think it's worth it. The paint job turned out pretty good. I had to go back and redo the hood and side panels becaused I messed up trying to paint without proper lighting. I haven't done the frame yet, but I plan to tear it all down and take care of that later on if I don't decide to sell it. It's got a rear axle seal leaking, so that will probably be my next project after I get the wheels cleaned up and painted. Thanks to everybody for a lot of great suggestions. I put a lot of your information to use, you just don't know it.

That right there is a prime example of why THAT model is the best looking Super ever made (then again...this is just my opinion :biggrin2:). IH Red, strong, wide, tall stance, Ag's, ribs up front; it doesn't get much better than that. Congrats on a job well done :beerchug:

cubcadet 08-04-2014 04:01 PM

That looks great.:beer2:

bocephus1991 08-05-2014 12:16 AM

Looks great! You did a awesome job! I know it ticks a man off when he has to go back and redo paint like that. Had to do that on the fenders of my 1200 but was worth it. Thanks for sharing!

OldSkull 08-05-2014 12:45 AM

You did a awesome job! He look like the perfect candidate for a FEL and a diesel engine, this "Mamouth" is the king of the hill!

SGragg 08-05-2014 07:50 AM

Fantastic job! You've done a lot of work and it shows!!

That thing looks ready to take a bite out of an offending deere!:biggrin2:

Fitz14 08-05-2014 07:02 PM

See that green behind it in the garage. It's afraid to come outside.

Billy-O 08-05-2014 09:50 PM

Sharp looking 982! Looks new...like wow! This the one that had cam issues?

Fitz14 08-05-2014 10:04 PM

Yeah, this is the one. I put new cam bearings and all new gaskets and seals in it. So far it runs great.

Nice job on that tractor! I have a cousin that owns a 682. I love the red look for sure! :beer2:

sawdustdad 08-06-2014 09:21 AM

Nice looking 982! Love the tires.

Fitz14 08-06-2014 04:55 PM

Thanks everybody for all the nice compliments. It makes a man feel good about his efforts. Speaking of drool, I've seen a lot of nice tractors on here. That inspired me to find one and fix 'er up.

chris hall 08-09-2014 08:21 AM

jackblack 08-09-2014 07:53 PM

I checked the exchange rate...... and that was at least $1400 too much. Unless it had all options and looked like it just rolled off the factory floor. And even then I'd shake my head......

Fitz14 08-10-2014 04:23 PM

I wish somebody would offer me $3800 for mine. I'd probably break something trying to get it on his trailer before he backed out. You never know what's going to happen at an auction. I was bidding on an old Troybilt tiller one time worth a maximum of $500. It sold for $1200. One of those head shakers.

All I know is I want a 982 as my next tractor I love that look. I wouldn't change a thing you did to it.
