Winter 14/15 is starting

Looks like it's starting, this is our local forecast for Saturday
Sat Nov 1
38° Snow
31° Snow
Chance of snow:80% Wind:NW at 19 mph

Now who was it that stated talking about getting the plows and snow blowers ready a couple months ago? This is your fault. :bash2: :BB&YS:

olds45512 10-29-2014 09:18 AM

Keep calm Sam.:biggrin2:

Huh, didn't expect that! :biggrin2: I'm not expecting any snow until December here. From what I've been reading, it's supposed to be an around average winter here. However, I hope this snow you're getting doesn't change anything.

Just remember the proper snow handling procedure:

1) Keep calm
2) Scotch
3) ...
4) Profit

Or something like that, I've worked 14 of the last 24 hours and had very little sleep in between so I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer right now :ScrewLoose:

Looks like rain only here in the Triad, but the snow will be close. Can I get away with just 75# weights on the rear wheels and no chains for 2-3 inches of snow?

Blade or blower? Either is a definate yes, but if you have a big heavy blower hanging off the front, you'll want more weight on the back. :beerchug:

I have a 54" power angle Haban blade on the 2072 so that's what I'm going to be moving snow with(if any). Bring it on :biggrin2: :beerchug:

That's it? 14 of 24? I usually work 18 at least in 24. The other day, in 36hrs, I only slept 1.5hrs. Suck it up, go get back in a tractor!

Really Sam? Snow in Galax? I'm glad it's not here!!! I'm not ready!
As if I ever am......... :bash2:

Well, you see JON, Sam lives in VA., it takes a while for them to catch up to date. That weather forecast is probably from Feb. In VA, their not like us PA boys, who are up on things. Why, just the other day I upgraded to a new phone, went from a crank style to a rotary dial. Ain't modern technology grand. :ROTF1: :Sorry:Sam, just couldn't resist.

Tough crowd, actually the forecast is from today. No concerns that I will need to do anything about it. Yesterday it was almost 80 and I was out on the Harley, also just closed the pool and now snow? Seriously the Mts. may get something out of this but I doubt I will get more than a dusting on the grass.

Maybe I should clarify; 14 of 24 hours was spent at an "official" job. The remainder was spent doing chores and whatnot around the house. Hell, last night we worked until almost 9:30 on the farm after I already put in an 8 hour day at job 1, then after I came home and worked on my Halloween costume for Friday's part at work, did dishes, laundry, and a couple other misc tasks. Have no fear, I keep busy :biggrin2:

BTW, the time I spend at the farm in "barney" once the sun goes down isn't the most fun. Window doesn't roll up, heat has 2 settings (off and sometimes on), runs on more or less 5 cylinders, and and has one real usable headlight. The bossman, meanwhile, it sitting in a brand new New Holland combine with the temp just so, CD playing loud and clear, with auto-steer doing all the work. Being the catchall has its advantages, but definitely has its disadvantages :biggrin2:

We got our first snowfall last night- mainly a wintery mix of rain and snow. nothing stuck. Great Halloween weather. You can keep the accumulated stuff.

jimbob200521 11-03-2014 08:07 AM

Sam, where are the pics of you cleaning your blizzard up?! That's just meant to show off your snow but not you cleaning it up!:biggrin2:

Wow you southern gentlemen did get wacked. Up here in central PA we did not even get cold enough to snow. Oh well I am not ready for it yet either. The big old 451 blower is resting comfortably in the shed.

zippy1 11-04-2014 11:00 PM

Well Sam, if there's a bright side it would be better you than me with the snow:biggrin2:
We have just cold in the weather forecast for the end of the week and weekend highs in the mid 30's. I'm liking winter less every year, especially after last winter.
Shops got wood, about five cord ready to keep me a toasty 75-80. Did I mention I like a warm shop?:biggrin2:
